Stussy: A Brief History

Originated from the Californian Surf scene and grown with the help of the youth movements, Stussy was founded by Shawn Stüssy, a surfer that shaped boards for locals that later shifted to creating printed T-shirts.

The brand started to build a small cult following and Shawn set out to present and sell his products in stores that he admired.

He created his logo by writing his last name in a graffiti-style design. The designs of the clothes themselves hint at other subcultures while also taking inspiration from them thus appealing to the youth around the world that had an interest in culture, music, and skating.

Through the brand’s limited distribution and hyped product releases in their stores around the world, Stussy has become a global player within the fashion world and has products that frequently sell out instantly.

This Stussy x Nike collaboration was released as part of the brand’s barrage of new apparel releases back in 2020.

This T-Shirt features a plain white cotton material with Stussy’s black branding on the front. Underneath, New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo sit right above a small Nike Swoosh followed by “London” and “Paris”, hinting at the places the brand operates in.
