You’re probably at home right now and as soon as you turn on the news or browse through the internet, the only thing you’ll read about is Coronavirus. Well, I for one have had enough of it. Man, I wish there was some news about a hot drop.

It’s been a while since I’ve made some dough and this whole pandemic is hurting my wallet. Well, luckily Nike is responding to my wishes. Because lo and behold, we are expecting a new edition in the 2020 roster of the Jordan sneaker collection.

There were rumors that maybe due to the virus the release would have to be delayed but the brand came through. And it couldn’t have at a better time cause us sneakerheads were basically begging for it.

Moreover, if you feel as if due to the outbreak of the coronavirus sneaker reselling has dropped, I highly urge you to check out our previous article on how sales have actually performed better during this period. I was shocked by the numbers and I’m sure you will be too.

We will definitely be analyzing the current and prospective sales of this particular shoe. Therefore, if you want to skip to the end to read a summarized version of the entire article, feel free to do so.

Here are all the details:

Air Jordan 1 High OG White Court Purple

2

We all know the story of the famous Air Jordan 1 right? Well if you don’t, here’s a quick recap.

So in 1985, Nike released the iconic Air Jordan 1 for the G.O.A.T Michael Jordan. What made it famous was the fact that each time Michael Jordan wore them on the court he was fined. The reason behind it was that in those days there was a strict regulation that the color scheme of the shoes had to match that of the team uniform.

In classic behemoth fashion, Nike told Jordan to keep wearing the shoes and they will pay the fine for each game. This created notoriety for the brand. And fans started lining up in front of stores to be able to wear the sneakers.

Overtime this fan following has transformed into one of the most loyal fan bases we have ever witnessed in the sneaker community. However, they aren’t shy of being critical if the fan base feels that a drop isn’t up to the mark. This is reflected in the resale value.

Now getting back to the latest drop. The Air Jordan 1 High Court Purple is constructed of premium leather. The color-scheme followed is that of white and dark purple with accents of black. Talking about branding, we see the Wings at the ankle and a two-tone Nike Air tongue tags.

Where to buy?

You can get the sneaker from the following sites:

SNKRS – The dedicated sneaker app for Nike. All the latest drops are available here but you’d be lucky if you can purchase them off of here. Most of the time, the most hyped shoes get sold off in an instant. However, if you want to use bots then you stand a chance.

StockX – You already knew this was going to be on here. So at this moment, StockX is selling the Jordans for an average of $275. Yes, you are paying a premium but then again it is a reselling website.

Select Retailers – The list hasn’t been released as of yet and I would recommend you to stay at home during this pandemic. Shop online, my friends.

Analysis of resale value

sales

First and foremost, let’s look at whether or not people are actually willing to buy the shoe. According to StockX, since the start of 2020, there have been a total of 319 sales. In the second week of March, we saw the highest reselling price of the shoe at $449.

After that, the sales price dropped daily to reach today’s average value of $275. I feel sorry for those who bought this shoe at the $400 mark because they will not be breaking-even surely. The shoe is set to release on the 4th of April. And each day that passes by, we will be seeing slight drops in the resale value.

This is only natural because the hype of the sneaker is the greatest before its drop. And hype translates into resale value.

Now according to my experience with Jordans and sneaker reselling, the average resale value of the Jordan 1 High White Court Purple will be $250-300. If you are able to resell it beyond the $300 mark, then that would be great but don’t keep your hopes up too high.

Conclusion

Release Date: 11th April 2020

Retail Price: $170

Retail Points: StockX, SNKRS, and select retailers

Average Resale Value: $250-300

Well, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Mark your calendars for 4th April not because it’s 4/20 but because there is a new Jordan Air 1 drop incoming.

Plus, you don’t need to worry about whether or not the pandemic has slowed down because the sales are going pretty strong so far. Overall, the sneaker market is holding its shape so do not feel as if this is not a good time to enter the market.
