Nike Dunk Low| Year of The Dunk

2020 has certainly been the year of the Dunk. With popular collaborations and exciting new colorways dropping left and right. Before the Dunk became what it is today, it had a rich history with Nike that many fans still cherish.

Before Nike SB was born in the 2000s, the Nike Dunk Low was the most popular sneaker on the skate scene.

Made in 1985 and inspired by the OG basketball shoe, the Nike Air Force 1, the Nike Dunk Low was also made just for basketball. That, however, was not all that it was used for.

Skaters during the time took a liking to the Dunk as it had almost everything that they needed. It had excellent traction that enabled them to stick to the skateboards while also providing great ankle support.

Adding on to the list of suitable features were 3M reflective panels and a price tag that didn’t break the bank. Eventually, Nike would realize this niche and create the Nike Skateboard division in March of 2002.

Today, many believe that more so than a performance-focused shoe, the Dunk Low is now a lifestyle one. The inclusion of suede and similar materials pretty much supports that claim. However, this lifestyle sneaker in 2020 has become a cultural icon.

Nike & CPFM

Cactus Plant Flea Market was established in January of 2015 by Cynthia Lu who is still Pharell Williams’ PA. The brand arose from the Instagram scene and quickly captured a large cult following through unique style choices and exciting collaborations.

After Pharrell Williams was seen wearing CPFM products, the popularity of the brand skyrocketed. Soon, mainstream celebrities such as Frank Ocean and Kid Cudi saw rocking some CPFM products.

After a long-standing collaboration with Kid Cudi, CPFM also helped launch Kanye West’s side project “Kids See Ghosts”.

Then in 2018, they also helped Nike in their first-ever collaboration to celebrate Nike’s annual Air Max Day. Since then, CPFM and Nike have come up with a few “must-have” sneakers that sell for sky-high resale prices today.

The average selling price is currently around $755 which is an average gross profit of $500. At peak resale prices, gross profits are as high as $1,600. The Nike Dunk Low Cactus Plant Flea Market Pure Platinum may have similar gross profit margins.
