The month of July is due in a couple of days and we’re excited to see the release of the Air Jordan 5 Retro Alternate Grape on the 7th of July for a retail price of $190.

For those of our readers who are too young to know the significance of this silhouette and colorway, let me be your guide in sneaker history. In the ’90s there was this sitcom called “The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” which starred a little known celebrity – Will Smith. Heard of him?

Well, the original Jordan 5 Grape rose to popularity due to him wearing that sneaker on the sitcom. And since then, we have been witnessing multiple releases of the Grape colorway. Frankly speaking, I can’t ever get tired of the Grape colorway – I’m just a huge Fresh Prince fan.

Even if you couldn’t attend Bel-Air academy on your rich uncle’s money, this sneaker will still have significance for you in the sense that it might help you make a few bucks here and there.

Feel free to skip to the Conclusion to read a condensed version of the entire article and find out the resale value of the Air Jordan 5 Retro Alternate Grape.

Released back in 2013 for a retail price of $160, the Black Grape had an all-around black suede upper with purple midsole. Over the 7 year period, it has gained an average resale value of $306. With the announcement of the latest Alternate Grape, the sales of the Black Grape have also increased.

Just recently a size 8.5 pair sold for $537 on StockX! I guess this is what happens when you combine Will Smith and Jordan together.

 Jordan 5 Retro Pre-Grape

Coming out in 2015 for a retail price of $190, the Pre-Grape isn’t a really aesthetic looking sneaker. It seems bulky and the colorway is mediocre at best. And customer dissatisfaction is displayed in the average resale value of $171.

However, recently we’re seeing an increasing trend in the resale value but even the peak resale value has been just a little over $200. Therefore, the Pre-Grape is a no cop.

Jordan 5 Retro Grape Fresh Prince

This iconic sneaker was released just a couple of years ago back in 2018 for a retail price of $190.  This classic sneaker features a white leather upper with a black, purple, and new emerald midsole. There’s also “West Philadelphia” written below the tongue and a translucent sole.

There have been a total of 724 sales on StockX for the Fresh Prince which speaks to its popularity and the average resale value has been $250. However, the sales data shows that there has been an increasing trend. The recent resales have all been above the $300 mark, with the peak resale being at $400.

The Alternate Grape is mainly made out of suede material on the upper. The purple upper is contrasted with black on the midsoles. The Jumpman logo, covered in emerald green, is visible on the tongue while on the heel the logo is in black.

I don’t know about you guys, but I think the Jumpman brand has hit the mark with this colorway. The perfect contrast between black and purple speaks volumes to me. Let’s move on to where you can buy these sneakers.

Where To Buy?

The Jordan 5 Retro Alternate Grape will be releasing at select Jordan Retailers and on the Nike SNKRS app. If you want to purchase them at a resale price, then click here for the Stockx website.

Resale Value

Due to the hype of the sneaker and its history, it’s safe to say that the sneaker has a positive resale value. With the limited data available on StockX, the average resale value seems to be $346.

The Alternate Grape reached a peak resale value of $629 but since then the sales are in the $300 region. Some of the resales have dipped towards $200 but they’re just due to poor salesmanship. All you need to do is to find a willing customer and you’ll be good to go.

According to our estimates, the resale value of the Jordan 5 Alternate Grape is likely to be between $320-$360.
