2018 was an epic year for shoe releases, including tons of hard-to-get limited releases. Looking back, we saw several shoes drop that had huge money-making potential. Resellers averaged $200+ profit margins on many of those releases. 2019 is set to be amazing as well (here is a list of 10 of the hottest to anticipate this year).

For now though, let’s take a look back at 10 money-making releases and their earning power for resellers. All of the sales figures come from StockX.

 

1. Air Force 1 Low Off White Black White

Release Date: December 19th, 2018

Retail Price: $170

Colorway: Black/White-Cone-Black

Average Resale Price: $498

Virgil Abloh and Off White released versions of Air Force 1s as part of their “The Ten” Collection. The black and white colorway was incredibly difficult to get. It was released in limited quantities for $170 retail. On StockX, the average resale since release is $498, with a peak at $850 shortly after the release. Most resellers who were able to score these shoes saw profits over $450.

2. Jordan 1 Retro High SoleFly Art Basel Black

Release Date: December 8th, 2018 COLORWAY BLACK/FIR-TEAM ORANGE
Retail Price: $160

Colorway: Black/Fir-Team Orange

Average Resale Price: $3,817

This collab with South Florida boutique SoleFly has a similar colorway to the Shattered Backboard release, but with a Miami Hurricanes theme. This shoe was released exclusively during Art Basel, a contemporary art event in Miami. The lowest resale on StockX since release is $2,499, which means all profits on this shoe are over $2300.

3. Jordan 1 Retro High Off White “White”

Release Date: March 3rd, 2018

Retail Price: $190

Colorway: White/White

Average Resale Price: $1,857

Off White’s Virgil Abloh and Nike bring another collaboration that was in high demand in 2018. This all-white version was only released in Europe by raffle, making it a tough buy for most resellers. Because of that, the lowest sale on StockX was $1,000 and spiking up to a $3,500 high.

4. adidas Dame 4 A Bathing Ape Black

Release Date: February 16th, 2018

Retail Price: $150

Colorway: Black/Grey/Black

Average Resale Price: $432

The BAPE collaboration on the adidas Dame 4 was released during NBA All-Star Weekend at 747 Warehouse in LA and then on adidas.com and Bape.com the following day. The shoe design included BAPE’s shark face logo on the midsole and toes. Although the shoes reached highs near $1000 which can still be found on eBay, average resale on StockX since the release was $432, creating profits over $275 for resellers around the world.

5. adidas Futurecraft 4D Daniel Arsham

Release Date: October 12th, 2018

Retail Price: $450

Colorway: Aero Green/Aero Green/Aero Green

Average Resale Price: $1,223

Contemporary artist Daniel Arsham lends his creativity to this exclusive adidas Futurecraft 4D release. This shoe was released on adidas.com and a limited amount of boutique retailers. Arsham’s shoes came in a sealed box and included socks and gloves as well. The retail price on this Futurecraft shoe model was $450. The average resale on StockX was over $1200.

6. Air Max 97 Off-White Elemental Rose Serena “Queen”

Release Date: August 25th, 2018

Retail Price: $190

Colorway: Elemental Rose/Black-Barely Rose/White

Average Resale Price: $906

serenaOff White had a big year with shoe collabs and that includes this version of the Air Max 97 for Serena Williams to celebrate the  50th anniversary of the U.S. Open tennis tournament. The shoe’s release was a surprise launch made through Nike’s SNKRS app. The retail price for this Off White Air Max 97 was $190. Peak resale on StockX was $1,890, an unbelievable profit of $1,700. 7. Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 Wolf Grey

Release Date: February 2nd, 2018

Retail Price: $720

Colorway: Black/Black/Wolf Grey/White

Average Resale Price: $754

The Wolf Grey version of the HyperAdapt features Nike’s signature EARL technology, making them self-lacing shoes. There was a lot of hype surrounding the release of this shoe, which was made through Nike.com and select retailers. The HyperAdapt 1.0 hasn’t ended up being too kind to resellers, but around the February release date, resellers were able to sell pairs of them for over $1200. If you were able to flip the shoes quickly, you probably were able to make great profits off the HyperAdapt 1.0.

 

8. adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Static Reflective

Retail Price: $220

Colorway: Static/Static/Static

Average Resale Price: $464

The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Static Reflective was released the day after Christmas last year and hit peak resale just after release with resale prices up to $2,000.

Average resales for the Static Reflective are now over $450. This Yeezy model is similar to the Static version except for reflective details that pop up when shot with a bright flash. The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Static Reflective was released exclusively through yeezysupply.com.


9. Nike Air Presto x Off-White “White”

Retail Price: $160

Colorway: White/Black-Cone

Average Resale Price: $610

The Air Presto collaboration followed up Off White’s “The Ten” collection. It’s deconstructed look was a hit with sneakerheads, like most of the other Off White models. This Air Presto model was released in select cities on August 3rd and was followed up on August 7th with a wider release through Nike’s SNKRS app.

The Highest resale price on StockX was $2,500, with an average resale of over $600. The Air Presto provided many resellers with huge profits in 2018.

10. Air Jordan 3 JTH Super Bowl

Release Date: February 4th, 2018

Retail Price: $200

Colorway: White/Fire Red/Black/White

Average Resale Price: $608

The Justin Timberlake Super Bowl edition of the Air Jordan 3 saw unbelievable hype and for good reason. This Jordan 3 features plenty of details that sneakerheads and newer buyers love. The release happened exclusively through the Nike SNKRS app during halftime of the Super Bowl. Average resales have been just over $600, with peak resale prices up near $2200.
