After a fairly dull January, February sure made up for it with a great line of new releases. Then came the All-star weekend which blew our minds!

For those living under a rock since 2003, All-Star weekend is a major Basketball event. It consists of 3 days from Friday to Saturday, all hosting various events. Dates being 14th – 16th February in 2020.

On Friday there was the All-Star celebrity game. Which is basically retired players, actors, musicians and athletes from other sports having a friendly game. As well as the NBA rising stars event.

On Saturday, the first event was the Taco Bell skills challenge. Then the 3-point contest and finally the Slam dunk contest.

Sunday finally saw the actual 69th All-star game where team LeBron were victorious.

This massive event does not go unnoticed by promoters, especially by sneaker companies. These are lucrative opportunities and as a result, many companies unveil new sneakers and much more.

This is great for business as there is a lot of profit to be made if you know where to look in this multi-billion dollar industry. And us sneaker heads know better than most that more releases mean more profits to be made.

Let’s take a look at the best shoe releases and their resale recap:

  1. New Balance X Don’t be Mad “No Emotions Are Emotions”-Release date: February 15th

  2. Joe Fresh Goods New Balance All Star Weekend

Peak resell: $850

To start off the All-Star weekend with a bang, and that too on Valentine’s day! Joe Freshgoods collaborated with New balance to create this beauty.

It has the same classic 992 silhouette with Valentine themed colors such as red, pink and purple.

New balance is doing quite well recently on the resale market. There’s quite a bit of potential profit to be made by reselling these shoes.

They’ve already had great success with Kith and Bodega and may continue with this new collaboration. The trade range is from $338-$568 according to stock X.

These shoes are also known to hold value overtime so quite a bit of profit may be expected.

  1. Off White X Jordan 5- Release Date: 2nd February 2020Off White Air Jordan 5 All Star Weekend

Retail Price: $225

Peak sale:  $2200

Potential Profit: $1975

The Jordan 5 X Off white rocks the original Jordan 5 Metallic color and it looks devine! The tongue is quite a special part as it features Off white’s signature shoe laces.

Moreover, it has a reflective 3M tongue, a “23”on the sides and a blood red “jump man” Logo.

Coming to the resale recap, this pair has gone beyond expectations. As mentioned above there are huge profits to be made here!

If you got your hands on a pair that is. As it was gone in seconds as everyone wanted them. The trade range is between $740-$930 and has been as high as $1360. That’s a 433% increase!

3.Air Jordan 3 Retro SE “Unite”-Release Date: 15th  February 2020Jordan 3 Retro Unite All Star Weekend

We’ve seen this style before with the DJ Khaled “Grateful” pairs. It consists of a bright red upper. The signature elephant over lays on the front and back and a black heel tab with the “Air Nike” logo.

There’s also a grey leather eyelet, leather ankle collars and a jumpman logo on the tongue.

The potential profit mentioned above would have only been possible before the actual launch date. As soon as the pairs launched, re-sellers sold for losses. Jordan 3 Retro Unite Resale Recap

According to stock X, the trade range is between $157-$173, the lowest being sold for $99. In short, it didn’t do too well.

4.Adidas Yeezy BB “Quantum”- Release Date 16th February 2020Adidas Yeezy BB Quantum All Star Weekend

Retail Price: $250

Peak Resell: $2500

Potential Profit: $2250

One of the most mentioned sneakers of the All-Star weekend really did deserve the attention. This was Kanye’s first attempt entering the Basketball game and he shined with this one.

The Yeezy Quantum features a 3M reflective surface. A weave upper resembling a zebra print, contrasting black tongues and sued toe panels.

The resale of this shoe went beyond my expectations. According to stock X, the trade range is between $882-$1,118.

The average price is $867 and the price premium over the original retail price is 300%! It’s safe to say the Yeezy BB Quantum did very well.

5.LeBron 17 Low Tune Squad- Release Date 15th February 2020LeBron 17 Low Tune Squad All Star Weekend

Retail Price: $160

Peak resell: $400

Potential Profit: $240

This colorway is inspired by the “Tune Squad” Uniform from the 1996 film. The Nike swoosh itself mimics the coat of Bugs Bunny from the film.

There are red and blue accents throughout the upper with white leather mudguards and overlays. The famous bugs bunny line “what’s up doc?” is also behind the tongue.

The trade range for these are between $187-$201, which is not too great. The average sale price is $216 and the price premium above the retail price is 21.3%.

The resale may be mediocre but hey! Better than nothing.

6.Nike Kyrie 6 Trophies- Release Date 14th February 2020Nike Kyrie 6 Trophies All Star Weekend

Retail Price: $140

Peak Resell: $240

Potential Profit: $100

The Nike Kyrie 6 is inspired by the Bulls 1996 title. It is draped in a deep red through the materials used with a gold mid sole and a leather upper.

It also has a dotted out sole almost identical to the Kyrie 2 “Championship pack”.

The shoe may be pretty but its resale, not so much. The trade range is between $102-$141 and as soon as the shoe got released, its resale value dropped.

If you failed to get your hands on these before the release date, consider yourself lucky to even resell for the retail price.

The average resale price is $142 however, the price premium is -13.3%. I’d Steer clear of this one guys.

7.Nike PG 4 Gatorade All-Star-Release Date: 13th February 2020Nike PG 4 Gatorade All Star Weekend

Retail Price: $120

Peak Resell: $239

Potential Profit: $119

Nike’s collaboration with the sports drink company came up with this fresh new look. I don’t know about you guys, but I feel energized just by the color combinations of this shoe.

The speckled mid soles feature a turquoise colored traction, a bright orange Nike swoosh and a turquoise purple-pattern on the out sole.

The trade range is between $124-$166, the lowest having been sold for $95. This pretty much means that a loss is not out of the question. However, the average price is $153 and the price premium is 20.8%.

Pretty mediocre or even below but again, better than nothing.

8.Reebok Answer 5 BBC Ice cream “cherry tomato”-Release Date: 16th February 2020BBC Ice Cream Reebok Answer V All Star Weekend

Retail Price: $180

Peak Retail: $300

Potential Profit: $120

To end the weekend with a bang, Reebok collaborates with Billionaire Boys Club. The colorway is reminiscent of the ice cream board flip as they’ve used the pink lemonade palette.

It features a low cut design for mobility, move-able air cushions and a heel trap for a solid fit.

The resale value is disappointing to say the least. If you wanted to make a profit, you should have copped one before the launch.

The trade range is between $128-$243 and the average price is $243. With a 2.8% price premium, a decent profit may have been made at its peak value.

This All-Star weekend may have been a very lucrative one based on your timing and when you copped each pair.

If you played your cards right and sold a pair of each of our mentioned shoes above, that’s over $5600 in your pocket!
