SNS x Adidas

In 1969, the Adidas Superstar was inspired by the pro models which were basketball sneakers. Trust me, however, you wouldn’t want to play basketball in those.

After over a decade of success, the hype for the superstar started to decline until a certain hip hop group came to the rescue. Run DMC came up with an album called “My Adidas” that pretty much-reinvigorated popularity for the superstar.

The group and Adidas, later on, made an official collaboration which was the first-ever between a sports-wear company and hip hop group in history.

Frequent renditions and popular collaborations such as with such as the Ninja x Adidas, Adidas x Pharell Williams, and Adidas x Jonah Hill continue the Superstar’s reign as one of the most recognizable sneakers to date.

Now, Adidas collabs with SNS, a popular sneaker retailer, once more. To estimate the resale value of the SNS Adidas Superstar “Kinenbi”, let’s head over to StockX.

These sneakers, also part of a collaboration with SNS, feature an almost entirely white upper. The three lateral stripes are replaced by lateral perforations for breathability which also appear as outlines around the overlay.

A white tongue, white midsole, and white outsole complete this highly minimalistic design.

On StockX, the market for this shoe is pretty unsubstantial with only a couple of sales in total. The highest these kicks have been sold for is $120, making them not so profitable for resellers.

This collaboration comes with the Adidas Superstar along with a fresh new hoodie that’s designed by Kazuki Kuraishi, a prominent Japanese designer.

For those that are wondering, “Kinenbi” translates to “In Celebration of”  as in the celebration of Adidas’ Superstar sneaker. SNS and Kazuki Kuraishi use traditional Swedish and Japanese flowers that are used in these celebrations as inspiration for their artwork.

The upper of this Superstar features a velcro build that replaces the traditional leather. Cobranding of Adidas and SNS are featured on the tongues while the heel tabs feature patches that read “SNS KZK” and “KINENBI”. Most notably, a traditional Japanese flower patch is attached to the outer panels of each sneaker.

An eggshell toe box and midsole finish off the look.

Estimated Resell Prediction

These sneakers are probably going to sell out, however, I wouldn’t expect much profits from them either.

I believe the SNS Adidas Superstar “Kinenbi” will sell for around $140 per pair after the release date. Therefore if you’re going to cop, I recommend going for personal sizes.
