The Air Jordan 1 Game Royal 2020 will be the second time I cop this colorway. Hopefully. This is obviously not an original and is the 5th time the game royal is being retroed.
Well, it will actually be the sixth time they’re doing this colorway if you count the original. In 1985, the game royal wasn’t as big a deal as it is today. No long lines and definitely no sky high resale values.
The game royal first made a return in 2001. This version was perhaps the dullest blue of the bunch with a different leather used as well. Unlike the rest of them, nubuck fills the swoosh in the 2001 variant.
The Font used for the designing and branding is also different on each shoe with different materials. They also were made with different lining with less padding on the 2013 variant.
There are also subtle logo design changes on each of them. Sizing of the heel tabs also change yearly and you can expect that this time around as well. The toe box is also expected to change as each year.
Finally, the in-sole also does change ranging from the color from black to white or the branding inside.
Let’s take a look at some similar colorways to see how they did on the resale market.
Air Jordan 1 Retro Fragment
Retail Price: $185
Peak Resell: $4,700
Release Date: 12/27/2014
Colorway: Black/Sport-Blue-White
This is a top favorite colorway which is almost identical to the Game Royal. The minor differences are the toe box and some color variations.
Such as the black Air Jordan branding. No blue lining on the collar and a white upper instead of blue below the laces, to name a few.
These are gold on the resale market.
According to StockX, the trade range is between $2,671-$3,547 with the average price being $2,959. That’s an average profit of around $2,774 before taxes and service fee.
You may also have earned a hefty $4,515 before taxes and service fee if sold at peak value. That’s huge!
Thinking the Air Jordan 1 Game royal 2020 will do the same would be a bit too optimistic. The resale value of the Air Jordan 1 Fragment reverse shows us why.
Air Jordan 1.5 Reverse Fragment
Retail Price: $150
Peak Resell: $374
Release Date: 10/17/2015
Colorway: White/Black-Soar
Also very similar to the game royal colorway. These also have minor differences such as the Nike Air Logo which is blue instead of white.
According to StockX, these did not do too well in the past. The trade range is between $146-$298 which means many have not even been breaking even. The average selling price is $137
That’s an average loss, however, value has been picking up recently. The peak profit that may have been earned is around $224 before taxes and service fee.
To make a more critical analysis for the Air Jordan 1 Game Royal 2020. Let’s take a look at the most similar and recent model.
Air Jordan 1 Retro High Game Royal (2018)
Retail Price: $160
Peak Resell: $1,050
Release Date: 07/18/2018
Colorway: Game Royal/Black-Summit-White
The latest Retro of the Air Jordan 1 Game Royal released back in 2018 for $160.
It also has minor differences to the Air Jordan 1 Game Royal 2020. Notably the white toe box and Black Air Jordan branding. It’s also over all bluer than the game royal 2020.
According to stockX the trade range is between $284-$376 with the average price being $301. That’s an average profit of $141 which isn’t bad. This is before taxes and the service fee.
The peak potential profit for this is around $890. Also, previous colorways suggest the most profitable sizes for the air Jordan 1 game royals are between 7.5 and 8.5.

Retail Price: $170
Peak Resell: $563
Release Date: 05/09/2020
Colorway: Black/ White-Game Royal-Black
The Game Royal Colorways is back and it looks as good as ever! It’s rocking the Blue, Black and white color scheme as usual but with minor changes.
The Air Jordan 1 Game Royal 2020 has a black toe motif with a blue toe box this time. It also features white leather on the sides. It has the Royal color on the collar, embroided by a white Air Jordan Branding.
The shoe also features a white mid-sole, a black Nike “swoosh” and black laces. The rear is mostly black leather with a blue color box outlining the collar.
Finally, a completely blue out-sole with Nike branding completes the design.
Resale Projection
Now Jordan brand has been pumping out new colorways and they keep getting sold out. I expect the Air Jordan 1 Game Royal 2020 to be no different. However, what will be the resale value?
Via StockX
According to Stock is the trade range so far is between $287-$469 with the average price being $455. The bidding price so far has been rising so this may increase further.
This can already earn you an average profit of $285 before taxes and service fee. The peak profit you could have earned is also at around $393.
After release, the resale value is expected to be $300. That means to break-even after a standard tax in the US of 6.75 and sellers fee of 12.5, you will need to sell for at least $202 to get your money back.
That still earns you around $100 in pure profits. That’s not bad! The most profitable sizes seem to be between 8-9.5.
