Discover the Air Jordan 1 High Hyper Royal, its release details, estimated resale value, and tips on how to buy for retail price.
This time last year, the world had come to a halt and the sneaker community was as thirsty for new drops as a deserted traveler looking for water in a never-ending Sahara. However, the supply chains across the world have reconciled and we are witnessing the releases of sneaker after sneaker. In that spirit, one of the most anticipated sneakers of 2021 has finally been officially unveiled – the Air Jordan 1 Hyper Royal releases on April 17th in Men’s and Grade School sizes for $170 and $140 respectively.
Rumors about the “Air Jordan 1 Hyper Royal” were circulating as far back as October 2020 but we were devoid of any official images or release dates and it’s so refreshing to finally hear something from the Swoosh and Jumpman brand itself.
For the Jordan fans, this sneaker is so refreshing – and we’ll get to that in a while. For resellers, the “Air Jordan 1 Hyper Royal” smells, sounds, and feels like profits. Before we get into everything, it’s time for a short history lesson on the Air Jordan 1 brand.
Skip to the end for a quick summary of the necessary details and how to get your hands on these!
Air Jordan 1 – A History
Believe it or not, the first-ever Air Jordan sneakers were produced exclusively for the GOAT Michael Jordan in late 1984 and were not released to the wider public until April 1, 1985.
The genius behind the sneaker was none other than Peter Moore, Tinker Hatfield, and Bruce Kilgore. I’m sure if Nike didn’t have such a star-studded cast of designers, MJ surely would’ve signed on for Adidas.
During Jordan’s time at the Chicago Bulls in 1984, the first-ever Air Jordan dropped in the iconic red and black colorway of the Nike Air Ship which was the prototype for the Jordan 1.
Interestingly enough, this was later outlawed by then-NBA Commissioner David Stern for having very little white on them – a rule is known as “51 percent”.
After the ban of the Nike Air Ship, MJ and Nike introduced the Jordan 1 in different colorways which incorporated more white, such as the “Chicago” and “Black Toe” colorways. The Swoosh brand used the ban as an opportunity to cleverly advertise that the shoes gave an unfair advantage.
The Air Jordan I was originally released from 1985 to 1986, with re-releases (known as “retros”) in 1994, 2001–2004, and 2007 to the present. Along with the introduction of the Retro Air Jordan line ups, the brand has elevated to household notoriety with star-struck collaborations and unique limited releases.
For resellers, the Jordans are a pot of gold. There’s certainly no other sneaker that has an intrinsic value as great as that of the Air Jordan. Each sneaker has a bit of history that has been engraved into it and that’s what makes them so exclusive and sought after.
Air Jordan 1 High Hyper Royal: A Closer Look
The Air Jordan 1 Hyper Royal is one of the most awaited releases for this year and some of you may have noticed the similarities between this year’s release and 2019’s “Turbo Green” – which has held its own on the resale market. As the official images reveal, instead of going with a full-leather upper, Nike went with hints of blue suede on the Jordan 1. To add some contrast to the color, the white leather accompanies the gray swoosh which provides added color and matches the color and outsole accordingly.
Speaking of branding, the Air Jordan wings are imprinted on the collar, and “Nike Air” on the tongue and insole completes the design.

People are dying to get their hands on a single pair and the average resale price is circling at $700.
Looking at the Bid and Ask prices, there is a whole lot of diversity in them. The range of Ask prices is between $550-$1300 while for Bid prices it’s between $400-$650.
Taking into account the limited supply and the hyped-up demand of this sneaker, we expect the resale price of the Hyper Royal to be as high as $500 and settle around the $350-$400 range, which is still around $200 in profit above the retail price.

FAQs on Air Jordan 1 High Hyper Royal
Which Air Jordan is the best?
There is no definitive answer on what Air Jordan is the best as it all boils down to personal preference. I’d suggest going into a local store and trying out different models to see what suits you the best.
Why Air Jordans are so expensive?
Air Jordans are made with premium material which will help your foot stay secure and healthy whilst making sure the sneaker will last for as long as possible. Some Air Jordans are sold on the secondary market where resellers sell for a higher price than retail since they are scarce to come by. Can Air Jordans crease?
Just like 99% of the sneakers on the market, creasing is inevitable unless you walk like a robot. Some models hide this better than others, white is the worst by far. There are some un-creasing techniques you could apply with towels and iron to keep them as fresh as possible for a longer time.
