AIR JORDAN 1 — A Brief History
In 1985, The Nike Air Jordan 1, designed by Peter Moore, made more than a splash on the basketball sneaker market. It’s safe to say that it revolutionized the sneaker industry.
Michael Jordan’s NBA rookie season not only got him a spot on the Chicago Bulls but also got him a $2.5 million Nike contract. The Jordan 1 featured most of Nike’s signature basketball features like ankle support, air pocket in the heel and the overlay on the toe with some breathable mesh.
The Jordan 1 might’ve lacked the technology of later models, but it was surely not lacking enthusiasm, and the fame of the sneaker was fed by the controversy that was surrounding the sneaker. Jordan was fined $5000 every time he appeared on the court wearing his black and red jordans because he was violating the NBA’s uniform policy. Of course, Nike was more than happy to pay for it because any publicity is good publicity.

The reworked Jordan 1 has surfaced in Psychic Blue, which a gentle blue tint on the tumbled leather toe boxes and quarters, a sandy beige finish on the panels surrounding the toes, collar and the heel with signature Swoosh branding in black.
Aside from the amazing summerish colours, what actually distinguishes this model from ordinary Aj1 is that this version focuses more on comfort than any other Jordan model. For extra comfort, it comes with Air Zoom cushioning, some extra padded tongues and inner walls.
Naturally, MJ’s iconic ball and wing logo also appear on the ankle flaps, with a white midsole and a semi-translucent outsole that completes the look of the sneaker.
