Air Jordan 12 History

Air Jordan 12 Retro JordanNike
Jordan & Nike

The Air Jordan 12 has a more peculiar story relative to other Jordan Brand sneakers. The Air Jordan 12 was inspired by women’s fashion; which Michael Jordan knew a lot about. He wasn’t ever even insecure about wearing something too feminine like bracelets.

The sneaker was particularly inspired by the 19th century Women’s shoe called the “Nishoki”. As far as inspirational material goes, however, that’s not all. Surprisingly enough, the Air Jordan 12 is also inspired by the Japanese Rising Sun flag.

The stitching that drips down the lateral sides of the sneaker represents the rays of the sun. Furthermore, the “23” branding is written as “two 3”. That’s because it was how MJ wanted it to be. Different.

Thus, the “Two 3” now appears on the tongue of the Air Jordan 12. This sneaker further featured a Zoom Air Unit which was the first-ever on an Air Jordan. A tweaked herringbone pattern for superior traction and a carbon fiber shank plate was also added.

Ever since releasing in 1996 for $135, we’ve seen various new colorways and re-releases. The Air Jordan 12 Dark Concord takes on a popular new colorway and is also highly anticipated.

Air Jordan Holiday 2020 Releases

Air Jordan Retro Holiday 2020 Collection

Jordan brand, as every year, is all set to launch its Holiday 2020 sneakers. The pack includes sneakers like the Air Jordan 1 High COJP Midnight Navy. Released originally in Japan back in 2001, these kicks are expected to sell out instantly with decent profits.

The Air Jordan 3 in Black/elephant print and the Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” is also expected to be super popular. My favorite perhaps is the Air Jordan 5 “What the” that also releases later this year.

Today, however, we estimate resale for Jordan brand’s latest addition to their Holiday line up. The Air Jordan 12 Retro Black Dark Concord. To estimate its resale, let’s head on over to StockX

Air Jordan 12 Retro Indigo

Air Jordan 12 Retro Indigo
From StockX

Retail Price: $190

Peak Resell: $450

Release Date: 08/22/2020

Colorway: Stone Blue/Legend Blue-Obsidian

The Air Jordan 12 Retro Indigo is highly reminiscent of the “Obsidian” colorway. Featuring a smooth leather instead of the usual tumbled leather over the upper. The majority of the toe region and mid-sole is white leather, including a fraction of the rear.

A stone blue leather upper that’s segmented in typical Air Jordan 12 fashion provides contrast. Matching blue laces and metallic silver eye stays further embellishes the sneaker. A white outsole finishes off the design.

The average selling price on StockX is $230 a pair. That’s only just lunch money in profits while at peak resale, gross profits are as high as $260. The Air Jordan 12 Dark Concord will likely have higher resale because of the colorway which in my opinion, is much easier on the eyes.

Air Jordan 12 Retro Game Royal Black

Air Jordan 12 Retro Game Royal
From StockX

Retail Price: $190

Peak Resell: $430

Release Date: 09/21/2019

Colorway: Black/Game Royal

The Air Jordan 12 in Game Royal and Black color tones really set the bar for retro releases. The contrast between the navy “Royal Blue” and black is executed extremely well. Sporting a tumbled leather upper, these sneakers are one of the most popular AJ XIIs out there.

A blue toe region and mid-sole provide contrast while the rest of the upper is completely blacked out. “JUMPMAN” on the lateral sides and a blue outsole completes the design.

On StockX, the average selling price is $240 which is a gross profit of $50. At peak resale, gross profits are up to $240.

Air Jordan 12 Retro Dark Grey

Air Jordan 12 Retro Dark Grey
From StockX

Retail Price: $190

Peak Resell: $500

Release Date: 11/18/2017

Colorway: Dark Grey

Inspired by the original “AJ 12 Taxi”, these sneakers were also part of Jordan brand’s Holiday line up for 2017. Featuring a suede and wolf/dark grey upper, I believe these sneakers will have very similar resale to the Air Jordan 12 Dark Concord.

On StockX, the average reselling price is $280 which is a gross profit of $90 a pair. Peak resale prices are around $500, earning reselling gross profits of up to $310 a pair!

The latest Air Jordan comes in one of Jordan brand’s most iconic colorways, the “Concord”. Also appearing in classic models such as the Air Jordan 11 Concord. Now, the Air Jordan 12 receives a lux new metallic skin.

Most of the upper of this sneaker feature a smooth black leather while pebbled leather covers the mudguards.  A rich metallic purple or “Concord” embellishes the top most eye stays and “JUMPMAN” branding on the mid-foot. It also appears on the heel tabs and the tongue.
