Jordan 14 Doernbecher Resale Guide
Nike takes a brief hiatus from collaborations with professional superstars and fashion designers and opts to team with the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
This is not the first time the two have partnered together, but the recent collaboration of the two entities was revealed in a charity event in Portland, Oregon.
The Air Jordan 14 “Doernbecher” features the Air Jordan 14 in collaboration with designer Ethan Ellis, who was unfortunately born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
Moreover, the black and court-purple hues are a nod to his member as a TCU Horned Frogs fanatic, however, there are various parts of the sneaker that symbolize his treatment against the born heart-defect that plagued his life.
The Doernbecher Freestyle collection was formed to represent the services of the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, who provide special services that are absent in other parts of the region.
This sneaker represents the designer’s story and how the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital played a major impact on his life.
There should be more releases as more patients arrive at Nike campus to begin designing their collections, be sure to stay on top of the releases by opting into our email list and following us on Instagram.

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE AJ 14 DOERNBECHER
The classic Jordan 14 silhouette has been featured with many creative colorways to date, however, this is the first time it boasts the TCU Horned Frog’s palette.
Starting at the toe of the shoe is a dark purple hue with the iconic Jumpman logo at the start of the sneaker’s throat.
In addition, the quarter panel is dressed in the same dark purple colorway as the toe, with the bright and glossy purple in between the two compartments.
The tongue collar has a purple tag that states “Jordan”, as well as a glossy bright yellow shine at the midsole wedge. Finally, the TCU purple outsole completes the sneaker’s design.
Texas Christian University is located in Fort Worth, Texas, and their mascot colors are the obvious purple and white. However, what makes this sneaker extremely special is not just the dynamic colorway, but the elements that symbolize Ellis’s journey with his heart defect.
Above the heal counter is the number “6”, which is to represent the number of heart surgeries he has faced. Also, the laces are specially designed to represent the hospital he received the care before and after his surgeries.
The laces spell the words “Doernbecher Children’s Hospital” to give a nod to the hospital that dramatically improved Ethan Ellis’s life.
To conclude the various special symbolisms the sneaker contains is at the tongue. It states, “Lil’ Rey”, which was Ellis’s lifelong friend and a fellow patient to Doernbecher Hospital as well.
THE JORDAN 14 HISTORY
Why the partnership with the Jordan 14?
The Air Jordan 14 is in the category of sneakers Michael Jordan did wear, which increases the significance of the Jordan 14 line exponentially. In fact, His Airness debuted the black and varsity red colorway in Game 3 of the 1998 NBA finals.
Another design by the great Tinker Hatfield, it has since been voted the Best Sneaker worn in the 1998 NBA Finals by Complex and proves to stand the test of time.
The shoe symbolizes the end of an era, the Michael Jordan era, as he would retire for the second time after the 1998 NBA Finals victory. Although he returned in 2000 on the Washington Wizards, he wasn’t the same high-flying baller he once was.
When released in 1998, there were eight colorways that came along and three of them were lows. Since then, the first Air Jordan 14 Retros didn’t plunge into the market until September of 2005.
JORDAN 14 RESALE VALUE
One can confidently state that the Jordan 14 is not as hyped nor does as well in the resale market as its predecessors, such as the Air Jordan 1 or the Air Jordan 4.
Although, some there some iterations of the Jordan 11 has brought success to sneaker resellers.
The Jordan Brand’s teamwork with Supreme was sure to demand people pulling out the Brinks truck, as both hyped fashion lines clashing together normally does.
With a sneaker that features both the Jumpman logo and the Supreme logo, the resale value of this shoe is well over the retail price of $248. For example, the size 7 has a last recorded sale of $420.
JORDAN 4 RETRO DOERNBECHER resale market
As mentioned prior, this isn’t the first time Nike has collaborated with the Doernbecher Hospital in honor of their patients.
This prior collaboration featuring the hypnotizing Air Jordan 4 in the black and royal-electric green colorway, was in honor of 11-year old Isaiah Scott’s recovery at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
This shoe not only possesses strong emotional value for all empathic human beings but extremely high resale value. In fact, if you wanted to get your hands on a size 9 you’ll have to cough up over $1,500.
A retail price of just $175 will tell you that grabbing a pair of these would have been worth your while.
JORDAN 6 RETRO DOERNBECHER resale market
Another Doernbecher collaboration, only this time with the popular Jordan 6 line, brought extremely high resale numbers.
NIKE AIR JORDAN 14 DOERNBECHER RESALE
Being that the release date is still a couple of weeks out, there have not been any recorded sales as of yet on Stockx.
There are, however, people who have shown an interest in purchasing a pair of the Jordan 14 Doernbecher collection for over $400.
The past partnerships of Jordan and Doernbecher have proven that some lines do extremely well in the resale market, while some—for lack of better words—brick.
Doernbecher Children’s Hospital is in the works for their 2019 Nike Doernbecher Freestyle Collection, due to release during the month of December.
