A Closer Look
Officially going under the “Ghost Green” colorway, the upcoming release is a reworked take on the OG Fresh Prince inspired Air Jordan 5 “Bel-Air” from 2013. The ’90s fueled release features a premium white leather upper base marked with differing neon color Jumpman and “23” embroidery on the left and right shoes drawing from the Bel-Air theme found on the sock liner. Black hits on the tongue, laces and eyelets provide some calmer contrast on the sneaker. Elevating the shoes are Air-assisted purple midsoles that continue the differing neon decoration found on the upper paired with translucent rubber outsoles.

The Jordan 5 Activity in 2020
Firstly, we can’t go any further without seeing the inspiration for today’s shoe. The original Bel-Air Jordan 5 was released back in 2013. Since then it’s had a cult following and you won’t be able to find a deadstock pair for under $450 nowadays. Check it out.
Being that this year is the 30th anniversary of the original Air Jordan 5, it’s only right that our friends at Jordan Brand went on a campaign to give us some new, as well as old 5’s.
The resurgence of the 5 in 2020 was lead by the hyper popular Off White version that has added to Virgil Ablohs legendary catalog of sneakers.
Next up to release were the Fire Red 5’s that were an original 1990 color way. Their initial shock drop was followed up by an official release in May. For such a beloved shoe, these are surprisingly affordable on the secondary marketplace. Only reselling for a 14% premium.
Rounding out the pack for notable releases of 2020 was a new color way for the 5. The Top 3 got its shine in June. Not uncommon for Jordan to do a mashup of classics – this iteration features parts of the Fire Red, Metallic, and Grape colorways.
Resale Anticipation
Looking ahead, this Jordan 5 should be a strong avenue for reselling! If you’re paying attention like we are, the Alternate Bel-Air will certainly be a hot commodity. Odds are, if a retro Jordan has a release on the SNKRS app, it will most likely resell well – at least for a certain amount of time.
As of now, the average resale price is $409. There’s a sizable amount of sales which is a good sign that the demand is strong for these and will remain so. I will keep things reasonable and put these close but not quite at the $300 mark for resale value after the release. Similar to recent Jordan 5’s to come out like the Alternate Grape, your best move would be to sell fast while the hype is real. Either that, or you may be in for a long waiting period until the bids reach that initial high point again.
