Now the Air Max 2090 is Nike’s attempt to show what the future holds for the sneaker world. Clearly, as a pioneer in its field, Nike feels that it has to pave the way for the future. And it’s certainly doing so with the 2090 or at least planning to.
In this article we’ll cover the history of the Air Max 2090 and whether or not the BETRUE has any resale value attached to it.
Feel free to skip to the end to read a condensed version of the entire article and find out the resale value of the Air Max 2090 BETRUE.
The Air Max 2090
On the 26th of March, 1987 Nike released the first Air Max. With its iconic Air technology featured through the side transparent window, the Air Max 1 hit the streets. 33 years since then, the Air Max silhouette has clearly a well-defined sector in the resale market.
Now Nike is taking the next step towards the future. This latest silhouette takes a lot from its predecessor, the Air Max 90, but then redefines it in a way to call it its own. The first colorway dropped on Air Max Day i.e. 26th of March 2020 and released the first-ever Air Max 2090.
The 2090 is much more aerodynamic and lightweight as it contains “200 percent more air than the Air Max 90”. This is a continued effort towards making the Air Max more lightweight and make you feel as if “you’re walking on air”.
According to Raasch, the Air Max 2090 showcases how much the sneaker world and the technology therein have changed ever since we became witnesses to the Air Max 90.
According to the designers at Nike, Air Max 2090 has an imperative focus on comfort as well as function.
Let’s take a look at some of the releases of the Air Max 2090:
Nike Air Max 2090 Pure Platinum
Released on Air Max day 2020, this was the first colorway we became witnesses to the first colorway of the 2090 silhouette. The retail price for this is $150 which is in line with most of the running shoes out there.
In an attempt to show the latest tech in trainers, the Pure Platinum features an all-around translucent upper. Initial popularity led to a high amount of resales on StockX. However, clearly the popularity wasn’t enough to retain high resale value.
Looking at the historical Sales data, we can see that the peak resale value is around $187, however, it all goes downhill from there. Perhaps the silhouette didn’t perform as well as Nike had hoped it would and the loyalists of the Air Max 90 don’t seem to be changing any time soon. This is why the average resale value of the Pure Platinum is around $132 which is less than the retail price.
Nike Air Max 2090 Lava Glow (W)
The 2090 silhouette didn’t fare well with the ladies as well. Featuring vibrant lava colorway on the upper with a grey midsole, this 2090 retailed for $140.
With the peak resale value of $160, the sneaker faced trouble getting traction in the market. And thus the average resale value fell towards $106.
Nike Air Max 2090 BETRUE
In celebration of Pride month, Nike is releasing the Air Max 2090 BETRUE for a retail price of $150. The sneaker features a rainbow-colored upper. The sneakers feature alternate colorways for each foot.
We see a black mudguard with “BETRUE” inscribed upon it. A blue translucent Air Max unit is donned on by the pair and that’s pretty much all there is to this 2090.

Thank you for making it this far. Now, let’s get to it.
Unlike the Air Max 90 which has a loyal following and devoted fans, the Air Max 2090 simply released a couple of months ago. Still, in its early stages, the sneaker still poses potential.
However, for our current purposes, we’re simply not seeing much demand for the sneaker. The Air Max 2090 BETRUE features on the 19th of June and you’ll be able to get your hands on them for the retail price or you can wait till they go on sale.
According to our estimates, the resale value of the Air Max 90 is simply none. Therefore, you’re much better off placing your bets on the Air Force 1 which we have covered extensively.
Conclusion
Sneaker: Air Max 2090 BETRUE
Release Date: 19th June 2020
Retail Price: $150
Resale Value: $150-$160
