THE AIR MAX 90 “CAMO croc”: DEEP DIVE
Sneaker-giant, Nike, takes no fear in pushing its boundaries in embarking on creative and opportunistic collaborations.
On one side of the spectrum, they have teamed up with Nickelodeon to push the NBA Phenom Kyrie Irving line’s and on the other side, they have teamed up with American fashion and sneaker designer, Jerry Lorenzo, to progress the Fear of God line.
Nike dips into another headline-worthy collaboration yet again, only this time it’s with mother nature’s wild side.
The safari-esque sneaker presents itself in a Cargo Khaki and University Red colorway—but, that’s just the color variation that will be on the sales list.
The sneaker embodies an animal of its own that showcases a reptile olive green, from the mudguard to the heel counter. In addition, the upper is constructed of the typical black, brown and beige camouflage that dresses the toe-tip to the quarter panel.
The camouflage is a fur-like texture to the touch and is just another unique feature added to an already abstract concept.
Before wearing the sneaker, one will admire the bright university red insole and tongue collar that contrasts well with the mud-green eye stay and shoelaces.
Finally, doused above the heel counter is a darker green hue, which is adorned with the crowd-pleasing “Nike Air” to complete the look.
Saying that this sneaker is unique just doesn’t do justice, however, let’s move on to a brief history of the sneaker before rolling out the sneaker value and sale projections.

Also known as the Air Max 87, the Air Max 1 was developed on March 26, 1987 by Nike. At the time, it was known to be a revolutionary junction in time for sneakers.
Enter Tinker Hatfield, a sneaker designer that is concrete in the Nike Air Max history books, brought the idea of the exposed air unit.
While the marketing department was hesitant in advertising such a confound concept—a shoe consisting of a hole on the side was a far cry from what it is today—they managed to roll out a galvanizing Nike TV ad campaign.
Three years later brought the Air Max 90, appropriately in the year 1990. The design was once again led by Hatfield who encouraged a strong positive correlation between air and performance.
The third iteration of Nike’s Air Max line was designed to contain more air than its predecessors.
Although it meant a refreshing comfort for runners hitting the pavement, the Air Max line inserted itself into popular demand in the streets.
While the Air Max 90 Camo Croc was designed to stand out from the crowd, this shoe also included an in-your-face red that was sure to make heads turn.
Twenty-nine years later, the shoe still meets the needs of athletes and sneakerheads and it seems that Nike wants to stampede towards their thirty-year anniversary with a bang.
PAST HYPED AIR MAX 90’s

First and foremost is the result of the teamwork between Nike and Virgil Abloh: the Air Max 90 Off-White.

This crocodile-esque variation of the Nike Air Max 90 line will certainly not perform as well as an off-white collaboration, however, it does boast a modest amount of resale.
For example, the sneaker exchange platform Stockx shows a last sale for the size 7 at almost $200. With a retail price of $160, grabbing multiple pairs of this shoe could be worth your time.
