As we approach the 30th anniversary of the air max 90, undefeated will give us the opportunity to celebrate the iconic runner and street wear legend in advance with their upcoming collaboration on the silhouette at the end of October.

Undefeated always brings all of the color pop and has given us many color ways in the upcoming launch not unlike their recent collaboration on the Kobe 4 this past august.

The brand has reached legendary status due in part to their amazing relationship with Nike and partnerships on many of the collaborations that have reached grail-levels of desire by sneakerheads world wide. one such sneaker is the Jordan 4 Retro UNDFTD 2018 Sample.

Although it’s just a sample, this sneaker has become an icon in the Jordan line of Retros for its unique take on the collaboration and still sees sales well above the $15 000 mark on stockx.

What’s so special about the Air Max 90?

Nike began featuring air-sole units in sneakers as early as 1978 but began featuring visible air in 1987 via the Air Max 1.

The Air Max 90 continued the new tradition and expanded the window into the airbag creating a shoe that would stand the test of time and become the target of this month’s Nike x undefeated collaboration.

UNDFTD and Nike love to partner on classic sneakers that are already highly desirable.

By giving the LA-based designer the opportunity to put their spin on the design and create timeless collaborations, the end result is often a super flippable work of art.

One of these classics is the Air max 97 UNDFTD white, pictured above.

We can actually use this history to help project the resale value of this month’s Air Max 90 UNDFTD’s.

Similar simple alterations and branding make the silhouette pop with the designers flair and makes us swarm for the opportunity to cop a hype-worthy shoe.

The upper will be comprised of a completely leather upper, and will be absent of the traditional Air max 90 logo typically featured above the shoe’s airbag.

The featured colors will be used to highlight the design of the am90 on the heel logo midsole airbag feature toe text on the dubrae and tongue as well as the stripe encompassing the shoe. undefeateds logo and branding will be featured on the heel tab and lace dubrae.

The launch of the Air Max 90 Undefeated brings us some exciting new colors: as many as 4.

We are going to see black and white uppers paired with “Blue Fury” and classic “Solar Red”, with the expectation that the “Green Spark” and “Optic Yellow” colorways will be added as well.

Little news is available on the latter two colors–meaning these will likely have higher resale value.

Release date and Retail Value: UNDFTD x Nike Air Max 90

The Air max 90 Undefeated will be releasing in a full family size run, with adult , preschool and toddler sizes.

The pairs will retail at $150, $90 and $75 respectively.

With a couple delays and switched up release dates, it seems we finally have something solid:

We are expecting to collaboration to be released on Friday October 25th 2019.

While official images have arrived for the blue fury and solar red iterations, we have yet to see the shoe in the green spark and images from @isser.whitey.james in the optic yellow.

After an expected September launch date, we’re happy to see something we can plan on–let’s hope it turns out to be the same for all 4 colorways.

Resale Value and Pricing

When a sneaker sells out, the resale value goes up, creating a now billion dollar pie made up of many teenagers, some who are six figure resellers.

With a number of colorways available, it is highly likely that some of them will become more desirable than others, driving the value for select few in aftermarket pricing, requiring some advanced knowledge which we’ll touch upon right now.

In early valuation, it appears that the models we have seen less of in the Optic Yellow and Green Spark will be the models that will garner the most profit.

However, this is only based on the singular early pair of the Optic Yellow on StockX with an asking price of $500.

There is currently one pair for sale in the Green Spark at an ask of $320.

In the Solar Red and Blue Fury models, a size 10 is listed at no less than $300 as of October 15, 2019.

This means that a reseller can expect to double their investment on this upcoming release.

Undefeated collaborations with Nike do not have a long-term reputation of gaining momentum over time, but tend to come out of the gate at a fairly high profit margin and level off without a lot of growth over time. There are exceptions, of course, for example the aforementioned Air Max 97 UNDFTD White which seen a near doubling in sale price since its launch over two years ago, per StockX sales history on the sneaker.

Some models, Such as the Kobe 1 Proto Undefeated Red Camo (Santa Monica) have come out at a $180 retail price, more than doubled in value, and held on to that price for long periods of time.

This model in particular, has been copped for between $350 and $400 consistently over the last 12 months. Nice profit for a reseller, good news for everyone trying to add to their collection.

Other models, such as the more recently released Kobe 4 Undefeated Black Mamba retailed for $180 and can still be acquired for somewhere between $200 and $230 for most sizes.

Time will tell us the story, though, on these more recent releases.

How to Buy: Undefeated Air Max 90

These shoes will be available to purchase on the release date of Friday October 25th at Undefeated locations in person.
