Atmos x New Balance x Staple Pigeon


Atmos is a popular streetwear and fashion boutique in Japan with many popular sneakers and collaborations with sportswear giants. Created in 2000 by Hidefumi Hommyo in Tokyo, Atmos expanded fast, earning collaborations with giant companies such as Nike, Puma, and New Balance.

Staple Pigeon was made by Jeffstaple in 1997. It occurred when he walked into a boutique wearing his printed shirt and as he walked out of the store, he had with him an order for 12 shirts. After which, he decided to create his own brand in New York. After starting off as a handmade T-Shirt Line, Staple gained popularity in New York until he caught the attention of Nike.

Nike offered Jeffstaple the opportunity to make a new SB Dunk that would represent NY City. That’s precisely the moment when Staple pigeon took off in popularity for many.

The Staple Pigeon New Balance 575 White and Black dropped back in 2009 and are highly sought after by resellers today.

Featuring a dominantly white upper, these sneakers are contrasted by a light pink/salmon around the “N” logo, interior, branding, and outsole. Suede overlay complements the white leather while a white and pink sole finishes off the look.

On StockX, the average selling price is $320 which is a gross profit of around $150 on average. I believe the Atmos x Staple x New Balance X-Racer will have a similar resale value.

This X-Racer features a typical rugged look with dark color tones all over the upper that’s contrasted by pink hits. This dominantly grey sneaker is contrasted by pink on the collars, side panels, and soles while also featuring reflective detailing.

On the rear of the sneakers, a pigeon is featured on one sneaker and a crow on the other, hinting at the profusion of crows that are habituated in atmos’ home city of Tokyo. A black furry tongue and throat may also be indicative of the same. A black sole with pink hits finishes off the design.

The sneaker also comes in co-branded apparel such as a hoodie and T-Shirts with a black cotton base. They also feature reflective detailing to match the X-Racer.
