Nike Air Force 1 — A brief History

In the early 1980s, Bruce Kilgore was tasked with designing a new basketball silhouette, and his first effort at a shoe resulted in the Air Force 1. We wouldn’t call it beginners luck because he went on to create several classic designs, including the Air Jordan III.

The Air Force 1 was known as “Uptowns” and in 1982 they swept New York by storm. Air Force 1 was the first basketball sneaker to feature with Nike’s revolutionary Air technology.

The sneaker was loved by everyone from top players at Madison Square Garden to streetball superstars on the city’s street.

The sneaker has gained worldwide popularity with more than 2000 variants released since its debut.

The Nike Air Force 1 is a unique silhouette that pays tribute to the endangered Milky Stork, a rare species of bird. The Milky Stork can be seen above the shoe’s heel, embroider with amazing detail.

Just like a Milky Stork, a large portion of the silhouette is dipped in white and the black tongue, lacing unit, and the rubber outer sole represents the species’ head color.

Chili red Nike branding on the tongue with red on the upper eyelets and branded insoles enlighten the sneaker.

Lastly, a white midsole packed with the Air unit and a black rubber outsole that complete the look.
