Designer Wilson Smith thought of an ingenious strategy when he first designed the Air Uptempo in 1996. A time of innovation and rapid growth for Nike, seeing the success of various sneakers at the time including the iconic Air Jordans.

These sneakers, instead of diverging from “The Swoosh”, embraced them boldly. Splattering the “Air” insignia on the lateral sides proudly and in bold/contrasting colors.

Smith, much like Tinker Hatfield, used to work as a corporate architect before becoming a designer. The “Air” branding was inspired by graffiti that he witnessed and was very much impressed with. Considering it as a form of art.

These sneakers have always featured bold aesthetics while being bulky, yet functional and thus attracting all kinds of talent to wear them. A major figure that’s known to rock these is the legendary Scottie Pippen.

Scottie Pippen wore these sneakers almost every time en route to gold. He wore them to win 1996’s Olympic Gold Medal, his fourth NBA title, and the 6th all-star game.

After a drop of inconsistent releases, a resurgence seems to be upon as Nike has started to push out more colorways. Following the Nike More Uptempo Bred that released earlier, we’re getting another Uptempo in a “Renowned Rhythm” colorway.

These “Chicago Bulls” themed Air More Uptempo initially released in 2017 and restocked recently.

A majority of varsity red leather covers most of the sneaker with patent leather overlays. White midsoles and outsoles complete the design.

The average selling price on StockX is around $230 which is a $70 gross profit. I believe the Air More Uptempo “Renowned Rhythm” will likely have a similar resale value, perhaps slightly higher.

This Uptempo dons a fairly clean white leather upper with varsity red hits.

Perforated leather covers the side panels with large “AIR” branding highlighted by a Varsity Red outline. White throats lead up to nylon tongues that feature red “Nike” branding and Swooshes. The latter of which is also present on the forefoots and near the heels.

A Jeweled “Swoosh” on the heels also provides contrast while white midsoles with exposed Air foaming and white outsoles with red Swooshes complete the design.

Considering how popular they’ve gotten after the “The Last Dance” documentary, I believe these sneakers will sell out.

Using my estimated resell value, expect gross profits of around $90 per pair. Thus according to our Hype Meter, that’s a solid “Profit”.
