Nike Air Trainer 3 Viotech – Resale Guide
If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Seems like Nike is following this route with the release of the Air Trainer 3 Viotech on June 1st, 2020 for $130.
Some of you might recognize this color scheme, and some might not. But this is a re-release of the 2002 Air Trainer 3 Viotech – one of the most popular color schemes of this famous gym shoe.
The Nike Air Trainers are particularly popular amongst its fans because of the Air technology used by Nike. It provides a soft cushioning and the premium leather makes the shoe durable.
Now some of you might be wondering, why are we commentating on a gym shoe which is being re-released after almost 18 years. Well, the answer is that shoes like these can turn profitable if bought and sold at the right time.
To assess the resale value of the Air Trainer 3 Viotech, let’s see how the other colorways of this silhouette have performed over time.
Feel free to skip to the conclusion to read a summarized version of the entire article and find out how much you can sell the Viotech for on the market.
Nike Air Trainer 3 Medicine Ball (2019)
Probably the most popular Air Trainer colorway after Viotech, the “Medicine Ball’ is one of the most profitable Air Trainer 3s on the market. They’ve been re-released over time and fans take them off the shelves whenever they hit the store.
Assessing their Sales trend, we can see that the Medicine Ball peaked at $360 whilst the average price stayed in the higher $100s.
Taking a look at the demand side, by opening up the Bids – we can see that customers are still willing to pay upwards of $200 for the larger sizes i.e. 10,11,12.
Nike Air Trainer 3 Super Bowl (2015)
Released for the 2015 Superbowl, this Air Trainer model features a tan upper leather and a black swoosh. It hit the market for a retail price of $130 and let’s take a look at how the sales have been performing till this date.
The highest price the Super Bowl went for was $350 whilst the rest stayed around or near $150-200. This is similar to Medicine Ball.
Moreover, taking a look at the Bids, we can see that consumers are less than willing to pay above and beyond $200 for any shoe size. This is due to the fact that the shoe retailed 5 years ago and people have thus lost interest in the model.
Nike Air Trainer 3 Knicks (2003)
Featuring the New York Knick’s uniform colorway, this Air Trainer 3 unfortunately has no sales data available therefore we cannot evaluate the performance of this shoe.
However, consumers are less than willing to pay more than $100 for this model as we take a look at the bids.
Nike Air Trainer 3 Viotech (2020)
Now getting back to the main attraction of this article. This model, as we mentioned before, is almost the same as its 2002 counterpart.
Featuring a premium purple leather upper contrasted with a grey mid-foot strap and the heel’s eye stay. This eye-popping colorway includes a vibrant yellow swoosh on the laterals.
So basically the 2020 Viotech is a carbon copy of the 2002 Viotech. Let’s see from where you’ll be able to get your hands on these trainers.
Resale Value of Air Trainer 3 Viotech (2020)
Now the first resale took place on StockX for a price of $265 for a size 12 Viotech. With a retail price of $130, this is a good profit margin. However, we can’t base our expectations simply on the resale value of a single pair.
Let’s take a look at the willingness of consumers by taking a look at the bids. We can see that none of them crosses the $200 mark – no matter what the size. The highest bid we can see is for a size 12 at $185.
The rest of the bids are circling around the mid $100s. By taking a look at the seller’s side we can see that currently there is only one Ask at $340 for a size 12. This is a bit of wishful thinking as these shoes are clearly not worth $340.
Moreover, GOAT is also reselling the Air Trainer 3 Viotech for $350 which I’m sure they’ll have trouble reselling. The reason is simple, there is a large discrepancy between what the customer wants to pay and what the seller wants to receive.
Therefore, it is in my judgment that similar to the previous models of the Air Trainer 3, the resale value of this Viotech will be ranging in between $170-220. It might peak at around $270-300 but it won’t stay there for long.
Here’s a breakdown of the break-even prices for the different reselling websites:
Clearly, e-Bay is the winner here. For the past couple of months, it’s been attempting to get a piece of this resale game and therefore it has removed all commissions and seller fees. Therefore, what the customer pays is what you get.
Conclusion
Nike Air Trainer 3 Viotech 2020
Retail Price: $130
Release Date: 01/06/2020
Average Resale Value: $170-$220
