Nike is determined to clean our planet all on its own. Or at least that’s what it seems like from the sneakers they’ve been releasing. After the highly successful Space Hippie series, Nike is back again with turning trash into treasure with the release of the Nike Air Vapormax Pure Platinum 2020 The sneaker is scheduled to be released on the 23rd of July for a retail price of $220.341983":0,"335559739":160,"335559740":259}">

So what’s so special about another Nike Vapormax that we’re writing an entire article on it? Well, would you believe me if I told you that 50% of the sneaker is made from trash! You heard it, right folks, the Nike Air Vapormax 2020 will almost entirely be made out of recycled material.

According to Nike, “The design represents our next step toward a more sustainable future”. It seems that Nike is finally answering their critics and it’s about time they took action. Sneakers are a dirty business at time and when giants like Nike step up, it’s good to see.

So let’s get into all the individual parts of the Nike Air Vapormax Flyknit Pure Platinum 2020 that will be made out of recycled material.

Feel free to skip to the Conclusion and read a condensed version of the entire article and find out the resale value of Nike Air Vapormax Flyknit Pure Platinum 2020.

Dropping on the 23rd of July for a price of $220, the Vapormax 2020 has all the following major components made from recycled materials.

VaporMax Air Unit

This Air unit is attached to the bottom of the shoe and is made with about 75% recycled material. This single Air unit covers the length from heel to toe and it creates an enhanced comfort for the user.

Flyknit Yarn

The material that forms the upper of the sneaker is made from approximately 67% recycled material which even includes recycled plastic bottles. Due to the recycled material, each sneaker has a distinct color pattern which makes each sneaker special.

Sockliner and Tongue

The sock liner is made from about 50% recycled content and the tongue is made up of 80% recycled foam. The sock liner has Nike’s official sunburst logo imprinted upon it which speaks about Nike’s Move To Zero initiative.

TPU on the Heel Clip

The TPU on the heel clip and toe tip is made up of about 60% of recycled TPU. This also adds to the vibrant design I.e. the swirled effect.

Outsole

The outsole incorporates Nike Grind and therefore the entire outsole is made from recyclable material –from sole to tip.

According to Nike, to give every athlete a chance to join along for a ride, their VaporMax uses the FlyEase technology. This basically means that the sneaker is laceless and all you need to do is put your foot into it. The VaporMax uses a one-handed lock that will help you lock the shoe when you’re wearing it and with a single snap you can unlock it to take the shoes off.

Moreover, we can say thanks to all the trash for creating such a diverse spectrum of colors which form the upper of the Vapormax. It’s like looking inside kaleidoscopeThe heel pull is also present on the Vapormax which I’m personally a big fan of.

Where to Buy?

The Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit Pure Platinum 2020 will be releasing in select stores and on Nike’s Official Website on the 23rd of July for $110. You can also buy them off of StockX.

Resale Value

The Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit Pure Platinum 2020 is a bit pricey probably because of the recyclable materials. The innovation and the effort it takes to turn trash into treasure doesn’t come cheap. And this will be reflected in the resale value of the sneaker as well.

Usually, the Nike Air VaporMax sells for only modest profits but that’s not the case for the Pure Platinum. Its novelty will be its driving factor. We’ve all seen how well the Space Hippie collection has performed because people actually want trash in their closets.

These sneakers will probably pave the way for other companies to employ an efficient production process that produces less of a strain on the Earth’s resources.

Therefore, due to its exclusivity and the first-mover advantage, I believe that the resale value for the Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit Pure Platinum 2020 is likely to be around $270-$295.
