The Yeezy 450 was teased years prior to the actual release with many speculating that they’re not even actually real, owing to their bizarre appearance.

Before we estimate resale and take a detailed look at the Adidas Yeezy 450 Dark Slate, let me walk you through this brand’s iconic history.

Adidas x Yeezy | A Partnership For The Ages

Adidas Yeezy Boost Sneakers History
Dribbble

Adidas and Yeezy are a pretty recent partnership, going back just over 6 years. Before that, both parties were worse off as Kanye West really did propel Adidas to the number 2 spot, overtaking Under Armour in 2015.

Before the famed partnership with Nike, Kanye West accumulated his own sneaker-related work experience with high-end fashion houses and companies.

Starting with A Bathing Ape, Kanye released the “Bapesta” in December of 2006. A sneaker that was made in very limited quantities and currently has a resale value of over $3000.

Ye also worked with Parisian luxury fashion house, Louis Vuitton, on various projects and sneakers. His most enshrined project, however, is with the Swoosh.

With Nike is when he released the notorious Air Yeezy prototype, a shoe that’s worth a whopping $1 million.

In 2009, Nike and Kanye revealed the Air Yeezy and later on, the Air Yeezy 2. A sneaker that would be spotted on the feet of various celebrities, elevating the Yeezy brand’s name to heights it had never achieved before.

Then after a dispute over royalties and creative control, West left Adidas and signed with Nike in 2015. The first sneaker they released was the Yeezy Boost 750, an unconventional design that looked unlike anything else on the market.

With the given creative control, Kanye expressed his designing prowess to the fullest. Releasing bizarre sneakers that would either be celebrated or mocked. However, one thing is for certain, his sneakers almost always sold out.

But will they still be profitable in 2021? Let’s take a quick look over the secondary market.

Adidas Yeezy | Resale In 2021

Adidas Yeezy Resale In 2021
GOAT

Since the inception of Yeezy x Adidas, almost all drops have been incredibly hyped and highly profitable. That’s due to the pull Kanye has and Adidas’ reputation as a high-quality sneaker manufacturer.

Thus unlike the Air Jordan, Kanye West’s legions of fans allowed the Yeezy to be an instant hit. The first sneaker, the Yeezy Boost 750 combined the Three Stripes’ industry-leading technology with Kanye’s designing skills to create one of the most hyped sneakers of 2015.

Then, came the Yeezy 350 1 and V2 that propelled the brand towards becoming a household name. Even though West’s philosophy is “Everyone Who wants a Yeezy Should get A Yeezy”, demand has been so high that all sneakers still sell out and resell for massive price premiums.

The Adidas Yeezy 350 V2 Cinder and Zebra, besides having various restocks, are still selling for much higher than their initial retail prices.

In recent years, however, West has committed to his vision of a mass-scale production, dropping countless new sneakers, ultimately slightly killing hype and diminishing their resale values.

On the other hand, the duo has also been releasing brand new silhouettes that are yet again, highly lucrative.

The Adidas Yeezy 450 Dark Slate is also just the second colorway for the 450 silhouettes. To help us estimate its resale, let’s head on over to GOAT.

Adidas Yeezy 700 Wave Runner

GOAT

 Retail Price: $300

Peak Resell: $1,000

Release Date: 11/07/2017

Colorway: SOLID GREY/CHALK WHITE

The Adidas Yeezy 700 Wave Runner introduced a brand new silhouette to the world, the Yeezy 700!

This sneaker has actually overtaken the 350 V2s since they’re more scarce with fewer releases. This colorway in particular is one of the most hyped on the market.

A suede, mesh, and leather construction cover the upper, a design that’s a divergence from the usual designs, going for a relatively more traditional “Dad Shoe” look.

Grey leather covers the stays while suede covers the perforated heels and mesh side paneling. Darker suede covers the lateral sides with reflective hits and suede toes. Meanwhile, large off-white midsoles and dark outsoles complete the look.

The average selling price for these kicks is over $500 per pair! That’s over a $300 gross profit per pair. The Adidas Yeezy 450 Dark Slate will likely have a similar resale.

Adidas Yeezy Foam Runner Mineral Blue

GOAT

Retail Price: $80

Peak Resell: $780

Release Date: 05/29/2021

Colorway: Mineral Blue

This sneaker/sandal lineup is one of the few Foam Runners out right now. Featuring a monochromatic dark blue upper that’s dark enough to be seen as black in certain lighting.

The uppers are constructed with EVA and harvested algae, providing style and sustainability. Side perforations, minimal branding, and rugged outsoles complete the look.

The Yeezy Foam Runner Mineral Blue is currently selling for average profits of over $250!

Adidas Yeezy 450 Cloud White

Adidas Yeezy 450 Cloud White Resale
GOAT

Retail Price: $200

Peak Resell: $1,200

Release Date: 03/06/2021

Colorway: Cloud White

Spotted on Kanye himself during his season 8 fashion show, the Adidas Yeezy 450 Cloud White stirred up a storm on the Internet, becoming the butt of the joke on many occasions.

Although a complex design at first glance, this silhouette features a simple dual-material construction. Cream mesh covers the top half while molded soles cover the toes, heels, midsoles, and outsoles, acting as a single unit.

Extended sock collars and thick cream laces finish off the design.

On the secondary market, the average selling price is over $440 per pair which is a gross profit of over $200. The Adidas Yeezy 450 Black Slate will likely have a similar resale value. Although the first colorway of any silhouette is usually the most hyped.

Yeezy Mafia

Retail Price: $200

Estimated Resell: $400

Release Date: Friday, June 25th 2021

Colorway: Dark Slate

This stealthy offering of the Yeezy 450 is surely a sight for sore eyes, and may even be more appealing to many of you out there than the cloud whites.

As pretty much the athetesis of the Cloud White colorway, this 450 features a predominantly black mesh upper that shrouds most of the real estate ranging from toes to the side panels. Against starlight, the Prime knit protrudes a dark brown hue, separating itself from the jet black caging underfoot.

Speaking of which, the midsoles and outsoles feature a single material that acts as tooth-like caging on the upper. Although lacking Boost technology, reviews deem these kicks as ultra-comfortable.

Thick black laces and extended ankle collars finish off the design.

Where to Buy For Retail

You can buy these hyped Yeezy 450s via select retailers and adidas.com/Yeezy come June 25th. The retail price per pair for men’s sizes is set at $200. These will also likely drop in Infant and Kids sizes.

Resale Estimation

Just as the Cloud White sneakers, these 450s will likely sell out instantly and be super-profitable. A manual cop will likely not be sufficient here.

Using my estimated resell value, expect gross profits of around $200 per pair. That’s a “Hype” according to our Hype Meter!
