The Yeezy 500 is one of the most sought-after Yeezys in the game. However, relatively dull colorways may have been hurting demand, or at least it would have eventually.
Luckily this time, the Adidas Yeezy 500 Enflame comes dressed in bolder color tones and we think it suits the silhouette perfectly. Before taking a detailed look, let me walk you through some history!
Kanye West x Adidas
Kanye West is responsible for one of the most hyped sneakers ever to be released. Even prior to his ultra-famous collaboration with Adidas, Ye was making sneaker headlines everywhere.
After working on the “Bapesta” with A Bathing Ape, Mr. West also worked with the likes of Louis Vuitton on a few successful projects including the “Don”, a name that he references to himself, the “Louis Vuitton Don”.
However, even though Kanye and Virgil Abloh (OFF-WHITE’s founder) worked together for LV in 2009 at Fendi. Unfortunately for the “Louis Vuitton Don”, in a controversial decision, LV’s artistic director job went to Abloh.
Kanye returned however and secured a lucrative deal with Nike the same year. Creating one of the most iconic sneakers ever in the Nike Air Yeezy. However, after a dispute over royalties, West left Nike and later signed with Adidas in 2013.
However, since his deal with Adidas included having artistic freedom, the Adidas Yeezys feature designs that are exclusively in accordance with Kanye’s tastes. Making them even more appealing to his legions of fans.
As the years went by, Yeezy sneakers have become even more bizarre. The latest Yeezy 450 Cloud White and the Foam Runners are good examples of this phenomenon.
People, on the other hand, are still talking about them and Yeezys in 2021 are as popular as ever. One of the most popular being the classic “Dad” shoes, the Yeezy 500s.
Adidas Yeezy 500 | The New Favorite
Released in December of 2017, the Yeezy 500 introduced to the world one of the most hyped Adidas Yeezys out there. The first colorway was called the “Desert Rat” and much like the coat of a desert rodent, it featured a soft sandy color tone.
The overall appearance was nothing too crazy but they carried the Yeezy name which was more than enough to have them fly off shelves.
According to most reviews, since the 500s ditched Boost for “adiPrene”, they were comfortable but nothing revolutionary. The 350 V2s likely beat them out in that regard.
In 2020, we saw very few releases but 2021 is hopefully the year Adidas pushes out more 500s as they’re definitely one of our favorites. They’re also very profitable on reseller’s markets, often selling for twice their retail price tags.
To estimate resale for the “Enflame” colorway, let’s head over to StockX.

Adidas Yeezy 500 “Utility Black”
Retail Price: $200
Peak Resell: $1,000
Release Date: November/30/2020
Colorway: Utility Black
The Yeezy 500 Utility Black is possibly the most popular colorway of this silhouette. Construction remains the same for these 500s, however, the monochromatic tone used is all black this time around.
Black mesh underlays separate themselves only by texture to the black leather and suede overlays, all done up in black. Black adiPrene midsoles and black outsoles complete the look.
Because of its popularity, the 500 Utility Black restocked last year and sold out instantly yet again. Average resale prices, although reduced, are still at a decent $350. The Adidas Yeezy 500 Enflame will likely have a slightly higher resale value.
Adidas Yeezy 500 Soft Vision
Retail Price: $200
Peak Resell: $790
Release Date: 11/02/2019
Colorway: Soft Vision
The Adidas Yeezy 500 Soft Vision comes in a light purple-hued upper that’s constructed with multiple materials, same as all the other colorways. However, this version is done up in the most unique color tone.
Although muted like the rest, this Yeezy 500 features shades of lavender all over. Covering the mesh underlays, leather/suede overlays, and the entire sole units.
Resale for these kicks is at a decent $380, that’s an average gross profit of $180. The Adidas Yeezy 500 Enflame will likely have a similar resale value.
Adidas Yeezy 500 “Enflame” | A Detailed Look
Retail Price: $200
Estimated Resell: $400
Release Date: April/24/2021
Colorway: ENFLAME
Shortly following the release of the Yeezy 500 High Frosted Blue that also deviated from the usual dull color tones, Adidas will be dropping this brand new Yeezy 500 dubbed “Enflame”.
These sneakers feature dark brown mesh underlays that extend all the way from the heel tabs to the tongues. Laces and panels, however, feature dark navy while slightly faded-out shades of blue cover the suede overlays near the collars and eye stays.
Tan suede, similar to previous models, wrap the toes and heels, matching the mudguards. The most striking features are perhaps the bright orange “adiPrene” midsoles, a feature that likely earned this colorway its moniker.
Finally, brown insoles with dual branding and orange outsoles complete the design.
