Hey guys welcome back to another Release & Resale Guide, today we’re coming at you with the Yeezy Boost 380 Blue Oat!

**Skip to Conclusion for the need-to-know!**

This latest edition to the Yeezy line is set to release on July 25th, with both a reflective and non-reflective style.

Please understand that this is a change from the original release date, which was set for June 20th.

Aside from their backbone Yeezy 350, Kanye West and Adidas have several plans set in place to continue putting forth much of their energy towards their updated silhouettes. One of them being the Yeezy 380.

After last releasing in a neutral-toned “Mist” colorway last month, it’s looking to give its audience a much more adventurous makeover to lace up during the Summer season. As most of you know, Sneaker Flippers is the best place for all of your sneaker info!

To get a better feel about how this release will go, let’s take a look at the history of the Yeezy 380 model.

So far we’ve seen two renditions of the 380: the Alien and the Mist. The Yeezy 380 in the Alien colorway resembles a very futuristic take on a sneaker.

It perfectly simulates what an out of this world creature might be wearing. Fitted out with a sleek textile upper engineered with a textured weave pattern. A lacing structure snakes up the higher-cut sneakers, a structure we have seen before.

Boost technology is encased in a rubber that also extends to the outsole.

Moving on, we have the Yeezy 380 Mist.

This offering of the Adidas Yeezy Boost 380 features a camouflage-like design in warm hues of Olives and Tans covering its Primeknit constructed upper.

Tan laces atop a chunky Boost midsole and gum rubber outsole completes the design. Unlike the Alien, the Mist colorway debuted in both a reflective and non-reflective style.

This is the same for the Blue Oat. What we’ve seen with reflective colorways from a reselling standpoint is a flatline after release.

Take a look at the StockX graphs of the Yeezy 350 Yechiel:

Here we see a timeline of the non-reflective Yeezy Yecheil. You’ll notice that in December the shoes were valued at $289.

But you’ll also notice that in June they are valued at $336. This is due to the fact that they are non-reflective and a shoe that is picking up demand.

Taking a look at the reflective graphs, you’ll see a much more flatlined graph, with a little bit of uptake nearer the end.

Of course, reflective Yeezy’s will still vary in prices, but I think demand goes down after the release date because the only benefit of the reflective is the photo that you can get.

Now it may be a really awesome photo, but is it worth almost $100 over the regular pair? I’m not sure.

In terms of the future of the 380 model – we do have one other pair confirmed. The Adidas Yeezy Boost 380 Onyx is set to release on November 27th, but like always that is subject to change.

The shoe will also be releasing in a reflective colorway and will feature an almost exclusively black upper, midsole, and sole.

Onyx being a black gemstone is a fitting name for the shoes, take a look:

In terms of the colorway of the Yeezy 380 Blue Oat, we’ve never seen anything like it.

Don’t get me wrong, we’ve seen crazy colorways from Yeezy, but never this combination of blue and brownish-yellow. I think the best example of a crazy color from Kanye is the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Semi Frozen.

This colorway steps outside of the comfort zone of the previous 350 Yeezy sneaker releases, which have remained subtle and mostly neutral primary colors and bright accents.

The official colorway of the ‘Frozen Yellow Yeezys’ is actually Semi Frozen Yellow, Raw Steel, and Red and features both Adidas pinnacle technologies, Boost cushioning, and Primeknit sock-like upper.

Although this color is very particular, the StockX data shows that the price premium over the original retail price is 71.8%

Congratulations guys, you’ve made it through the Yeezy history and have now arrived at the Yeezy 380 Blue Oat!

When I come to my conclusions about resale, please take all numbers with a grain of salt. I based most of my claims on the past 380 models.

The 380 Alien released on December 12, 2019, for $230 and is currently selling at an average price of $449, which is a 90.9% price premium. Now the alien was the first colorway of this model to release and was actually a more of a low-key color.

When the mist colorway released, there was no wow-factor. We had already seen a 380 release in a nice color, the mist was giving us the same thing but in what most people would say, a much worse color.

The average sale price is currently $227, $3 below the retail price. Proving to be a sneaker that is not worth it when it comes to the resale market.

I came to the conclusion that the Blue Oat colorway will perform similarly to the Mist. With both being colorways that aren’t as appealing to buyers and being outperformed by the Alien, I don’t see this shoe being a huge moneymaker for those of you in the resale game.

Conclusion:

Release Date: July 25th
Retail Price: $230
Average Resale Value: $220-$230
