Air Force 1 Low | History in China

Nike Air Force 1 China History
Hypebeast

The Air Force 1 was first designed by Bruce Kilgore in 1982 and released in 1984. For certain reasons they had to be discontinued, however, returned in 1986 due to popular demand.

The AF1s were quickly gaining momentum when it came to popularity and established themselves not only in the sportswear niche but also in the fashion realm. People soon started rocking them as streetwear.

Nike had entered the Chinese markets 5 years prior to the re-release of the Air Force 1. In 1981, Nike entered China and sponsored various events and clubs to gain a firm footing.

The Swoosh successfully entered the Chinese market and grew by treating different Cities like different market segments, by sponsoring the 2008 Olympics, and by providing shoes for all kinds of income groups.

Eventually, China became an exceedingly important country for Nike. That’s one reason for the plethora of Chinese-inspired releases. A lot of these are Air Force 1s which gained their popularity with the rise of Basketball in China.

The Nike Air Force 1 Hi “Nai Ke” is a good example of Chinese-inspired colorways.

They’re also often quite profitable on the reseller’s markets. To estimate resale for the Nike Air Force 1 Low Pomegranate, let’s head over to StockX.

Resale Value

I don’t believe these sneakers will sell out that quickly and I do recommend going for personals only.

Using my estimated resell value, expect gross profits of around $40 per pair. According to our Hype Meter, that’s a “Profit”.
