History/Nike Sky Force

Nike Sky Force 1988

The Nike Sky Force was the king of the 1980’and one of Nike’s best basketball sneakers. Today unfortunately, you may have not even heard of them and that’s understandable.

Hype had died down during the 2000s after being over shadowed by the Air Force 1, Dunk and Air Jordan. However, Nike seems to be pushing out more colorways in 2020 which may see a surge in popularity for this vintage silhouette.

The Nike Sky Force had actually inspired the Air Jordan and also the Dunks. The original Air Jordan 1 Chicago actually took notes from the design of the Sky Force which made it as popular as it is today.

In 1988, the Sky Force had a chunkier incarnation with a curvier design or a more “Court Force-esque”. The retroed version also had a “88” on it representing the year of release.

That is however, when the Sky Force was losing clout in favor of other Nike models. Thus, the excitement and hype that came with the Sky Force gradually declined over the years.

Nike Sky Force 3/4

Nike Sky Force 3 4 Snake Skin

Since the start of 2020, Nike has gone into its archives and dug up the OG Sky Force 3/4 which released back in 1983. They released the Sky Force white and Black back in April with a very similar design.

It had been released prior in 2018 but that was not for the masses. It released exclusively for Chicago’s Notre. It was a “Game Worn” pack which was a collaboration with the artist Ju Working on Projects.

Nike has released other colorways as well recently with a fairly minuscule resale market. Interestingly however, the resale in many cases is a bit above retail.

That being said, let’s take a more detailed look at the Nike Sky Force 3/4 Red Blue.

Nike Sky Force 3/4 Red Blue

Nike Sky Force 3 4 Red Blue 1

Retail Price: $110

Estimated Resell: $130

Release Date: 06/13/2020

Colorway: White/Racer Blue-Sail-University Red

The Nike Sky Force 3/4 Red Blue will yet again see a quiet release in the midst of all the other giant names under Nike.

It’s been a long time since the Sky Force has been over shadowed by its more popular siblings. Becoming a victim of business cannibalism yet again.

This time it seems to be slightly more hyped however due to its USA themed Red White and Blue color scheme and Snake Skin “Swoosh”.

The Nike Sky Force Features an all leather white upper with blue and red covering the alternate sides. The sneaker also comes in a matching striking white laces with black “Nike” branding on the tongue and heel.

The in-soles also feature a matching blue and red color scheme while a translucent out-sole finishes off the design. Take a closer look with these shots.

Estimated Resell

To estimate the resell value of the Nike Sky Force ¾ Red Blue. Let’s head over to StockX and see how similar colorways are doing on the resale market.

Nike Sky Force ¾ White

Nike Sky Force 3 4 White

Retail Price: $85

Peak Resell: $130

Release Date: 04/22/2020

Colorway: White/Black-White

The Nike Sky Force 3/4 is reminiscent of the original that released back in 1983. The sneaker first saw action exclusively as part of a “Game Worn” collaboration but saw a wider release in 2020.

It comes in an almost entirely white tumbled leather with a T shaped mid-foot eye stay piece. A black collar outline and “Nike” spell-out graphic on the heel provides contrast.

A white mid-sole and semi translucent out-sole finishes off the design.

As I said, the market is pretty unsubstantial with only 1 sale on StockX. The profit however on that sale is $130.

That’s a profit of $45 before tax and service fee. There are also very few bids at around $60 max.

Nike Sky Force ¾ White Regency Purple

Nike Sky Force 3 4 White Regency Purple

Retail Price: $85

Peak Resell: $121

Release date: 04/30/2020

Colorway: White-Oracle Aqua-Team Orange-Regency Purple

Also released back in April, this sneaker features an almost entirely white leather upper. A Purple Swoosh is most notable with aqua branding on the tongue and rear.

It also features an orange tongue. A white mid-sole and translucent out-sole to finish off the design.

The market for this sneaker is also quite small with only 3 sales on StockX. Trade range is between $81-$105 with the average price being $108. That’s an average profit of around $5 after service fee and tax while peak profit is around $20.

Nike Sky Force ¾ White Blue Fury

Nike Sky Force 3 4 White Blue Fury

Retail Price: $85

Peak Resell: $148

Release date: 05/14/2020

Colorway: White/University Gold-Void Blue-Blue Fury

These sneakers too have only been sold only once or twice on StockX. They come in an all-white tumbled leather upper with light blue “Swoosh”.

A blue tongue, golden “Nike” branding at the rear provide some contrast to the otherwise very clean looking sneaker. A white mid-sole and translucent out-sole finishes off the design.

The Trade range is between $133-$163 currently on StockX. They’ve been sold for $148 only once which is a good return considering the low retail price. That’s a pure profit of around $40.

Thus coming to the estimated resale, I presume a you could sell the Nike Sky Force 3/4 Red Blue for $130+. Thus after deducting service fees and tax, to get your money back you will need to sell them for around $131.

That leaves very little profits however, you probably won’t lose money on them if you decide to cop. So if you’re looking to cop one in personal sizes, I suggest you go ahead.

Where to Cop

I assume the Nike Sky Force 3/4 Red Blue won’t be hard to get your hands on so a manual cop would be sufficient. You can find them for retail on Nike.com and select retailers on June 13th.

You can also find them on re-seller websites such as StockX and GOAT.
