Before we take a detailed look at the Air Jordan 12 Retro Twist, let me walk you through a bit of history!

Air Jordan 12 | Rising Sun

air jordan 12 red white history Air Jordan 12 Retro Twist

Released in 1996, close to MJ’s retirement, the Air Jordan 12 saw decent success on the shelves of Nike stores and on the hardwood on Michael Jordan’s feet.

Designed by Tinker Hatfield, this shoe is inspired by Japanese culture in two main ways. Firstly, it borrows its curves from the iconic “Nishiki” dress that’s native to Japanese culture.

However, inspiration from the Japanese does not end there. The “Rising Sun” flag is also a source that Hatfield derived design cues from.

As for the functional part of the sneaker, Tinker Hatfield, for the first time, used Nike’s state-of-the-art ZoomX cushioning to elevate the midsoles. This improved elevation while coupled with carbon fiber shank plates provided functionality that few other sneakers could emulate.

Then with MJ’s incredible performances such as during the famed “Flu Game”, the Air Jordan 12 became a household name with sales going through the roof.

Air Jordan 12 | Resale In 2021

Air Jordan 12 Resale In 2021 Air Jordan 12 Retro Twist

The Air Jordan 12 has almost always been a very popular sneaker. While annual releases aren’t abundant, almost every single occasion is celebrated by sneakerheads and collectors alike.

Is that due to its basketball performance, style, or history? We may not have an answer for that but one thing’s for sure, Air Jordan 12s often sell out very quickly.

Last year, we saw a few exciting releases including the iconic Air Jordan 12 Bred, or more commonly known as, “Flu Game”. That was, of course, the game where Michael Jordan had the flu, yet delivered an exceptional performance.

Then in 2021, we saw releases such as the GS Air Jordan 12 Ice-cream and the Air Jordan 12 Easter. Both of which weren’t particularly popular nor very profitable even though the Easter colorway sold out rather quickly.

The Air Jordan 12 just isn’t as sought after as some of the other Air Jordans, however, they must not be slept on either as there’s potential for good profits with every drop.

To get a more accurate resale estimate for the Air Jordan 12 Retro Twist, let’s head on over to the secondary market.

Air Jordan 12 Easter Low

  • Retail Price: $190
  • Peak Resell: $500
  • Release Date: 04/03/2021
  • Colorway: White/Multi-Color

Jordan Brand dropped the Air Jordan 12 Easter just in time for Easter Sunday with suitable pastel color tones.

The build rocks a dual leather material, with smooth white leather covering the top half while tumbled leather traces appear on the tongues and mudguards. Ice blue eyelet panels add a touch of luxury while plastic “Jump Man” branding is embossed onto the side panels.

Traditional white laces, black heel pulls ice blue midsoles, and outsoles complete the design.

In the reseller’s markets, these sneakers have dropped in value overall to an average price of $230 per pair. That’s around a $30 gross profit. I expect similar margins from the Air Jordan 12 Retro Twist.

Air Jordan 12 Reverse Flue Game (2021)

  • Retail Price: $190
  • Peak Resell: $300
  • Release Date: 12/26/2020
  • Colorway: Varsity Red/Black

The Air Jordan 12 Reverse Flu Game takes on a colorway with one of the richest histories in sneaker history.

The “Flue Game” is inspired by MJ’s performance against the Utah Jazz in the NBA finals where Michael performed exceedingly well all while suffering from the flu.

After multiple renditions, the Flu Game Air Jordan 12 returned in 2020 in a flipped color tone and build.

The upper features tumbled leather on the top half while the lower region features textured red materials, particularly on the mudguards, toes, midsoles, and heel tabs. Red and black outsoles with snakeskin detailing finishes off the design.

On websites such as GOAT, these kicks are selling for an average price of around $230 per pair. That’s barely a $40 gross profit.

Air Jordan 12 Gym Red (2016)

  • Retail Price: $190
  • Peak Resell: $500
  • Release Date: 07/02/2016
  • Colorway: Gym Red/Black-White

The Air Jordan 12 Gym Red dons an iconic colorway that’s seen on various other Air Jordan sneakers.

These kicks feature a red and white leather upper with matching red laces and metallic Gym Red eyelet panels.

White midsoles, mudguards, and outsoles complete the look.

On the secondary markets, you can buy these sneakers currently at around $320 per pair. That’s a gross profit of almost $130 per pair. The Air Jordan 12 Retro Twist likely won’t be as profitable since this is a memorable colorway.

Air Jordan 12 Retro Twist | A Detailed Look

  • Retail Price: $190
  • Estimated Resell: $250
  • Release Date: Saturday, July 24th, 2021
  • Colorway: White/University Red-Black

The Air Jordan 12 takes on a familiar yet brand-new colorway with typical Chicago Bulls-themed hues.

White tumbled leather covers the top half of the uppers, particularly the segmented side panels.

Tumbled leather appears on the throats, enveloped in traditional black laces and detailed by “TWO” and “3” texts. Contrasting the uppers are 4 metallic Gym Red eyelet panels. Meanwhile, scaley mudguards with embossed metallic red “Jordan” branding adds another layer of detail.

On the rear, Gym Red and black heel pull provide additional contrast with “Jump-Man” branding.

Plain white midsoles and outsoles with Gym Red, black, and snakeskin hits finish off the design.

How To Buy For Retail

You can buy these sneakers at select retailers and Nike SNKRS on July 24th. The retail price for men’s sizes is set at $190 and while the retail price for GS sizes is TBA.

Resale Value Estimate

Since the 12s are relatively popular and with these being a decent colorway, I believe they’ll sell out.

Using my estimated resell value, expect gross profits of around $60 per pair. That’s a “Profit” according to our Hype Meter.
