Many Air Jordans have been released but non have surpassed the Air Jordan 1 when it comes to popularity and greatness, except of coarse, the Air Jordan 3. Widely considered as perhaps the best Jordan sneaker ever.
Tinker Hatfield designed this legendary silhouette right after he was assigned with creating a new sneaker. Hatfield stated that he had never met Jordan prior to unveiling this sneaker and he was very nervous.
As soon as Michael saw the sneakers, he smiled instantly and after a 20-minute conversation about the AJ3, the sneaker was official. Interestingly, MJ’s reaction was the complete antethesis of when he saw the Air Jordan 1, which he called “Clown Like”.
This is also one of the most important Jordan sneakers as it established the Jordan brand as a strong enough company to forgo the ‘Swoosh’ and stand on its own feet. Hatfield came up with the idea which was met with a lot of criticism at first.
Eventually however, the ‘Swoosh’ was swapped for the Jump-Man while a “Nike” logo was placed on the heel. Other design changes that were subject to criticism were the elephant prints and tumbled leather. Michael, however, gave the thumbs up for both and argued that they looked “Luxurious”.
The AJ3 was then released in 1988 and ever since is considered one of Tinker Hatfield’s greatest to date.

The Air Jordan 3 Retro varsity Royal features a grey and blue color tone. Tumbled leather varsity blue overlay contrast the rest of the grey and black sneaker. The sneaker also includes a grey tongue with a varsity royal Jump-Man.
Black laces provide further contrast and sit atop its polka-dotted grey throat. The classic elephant print shows up on the toe regions and rear while a crisp white midsole cleans up the look. A grey outsole finishes off the design.
The average selling price is currently at $250 a pair while at peak resale prices, gross profits are as high as $330. I believe the Air Jordan 3 Court Purple will have a similar resale value.

This Air Jordan 3 comes in a “Suns” inspired colorway, dressed in black, grey, and Court purple color schemes.
The majority of the upper is covered in a premium genuine leather that is accented by a lux court purple which appears sparingly at the rear midsole, collars, and Jump-Man logos. Speaking of which, the Jump-Man appears on the tongue and as a 3-D Jump-Man at the rear that sits atop an orange “AIR” branding.
The insoles are also a blazing orange while the classic elephant prints appear on the toe regions and at the rear. A white midsole and a grey outsole with purple/orange hits finish off the design.
