Now let’s get into the article!

We’re going to detail a 4-step process on how to successfully get your sneakers to your customers after they order.

Step 1: Finding boxes

Now if you’re shipping sneakers, you’ll want to use cardboard boxes. One important note about this is make sure that the cardboard box isn’t way too big for the sneaker box.

You want enough room to fit in some packaging, but you don’t want the sneakers to get thrown around during shipping. You want to keep the customer in mind during every step of this process, understanding that their satisfaction could lead to another sale.

If you are shipping individual sneakers, I think the best cardboard box size is 16x10x6. This can absolutely vary depending on the size of your shoes, size of the box, and even how many pairs you are shipping with the order.

You can get boxes almost anywhere, but you probably want to save as much money as you can. I would suggest Home Depot as their prices are fair and boxes are absolutely high quality.

If you are really looking to save money, you can always scout out boxes for free at the local Target or Walmart. Usually workers have tons of boxes in the back that would normally be thrown out. You can absolutely take advantage of this.

Shipping boxes are maybe the most important and you absolutely want to use them. I cannot repeat this enough: DO NOT use the sneaker box as the shipping box!

This is the worst way to receive shoes and I promise you will not get another order if you ship like this! Prioritizing the customer is the best way to ship. Shipping can make or break sales!

Step 2: Packaging

Once you’ve got you box, you now have to fill it. Of course you’ve got the sneakers in there, but there’s more you can add. First, if there is extra room around the shoebox, add in some packing paper. This can be anything from packing peanuts or crumpled paper.

The reason for this is to keep the sneakers secure and to prevent any damaging of the sneakers or their box.

Along with packing paper/peanuts, you’re going to want to add some promotion in the package.

This is an example of business cards that are the best thing you can throw in your packages. Business cards in any field are extremely useful, but using them for your resell business will absolutely translate to sales.

Making sure that your cards are neatly designed and are appealing will mean customers will always have a reminder of your business.

Along with business cards, one option you can add to your customers’ experience is a thank you note. Just a small note thanking them for their business can go a long way. You can probably tell by now that making sure the customer is satisfied with you shipping is incredibly important.

Step 3: Printing labels

Once you’ve got your sneakers in a correct box and they are all packaged up, it’s time to print labels!

When it comes to shipping companies, there are a couple different options. The big 3 are USPS, FEDEX, and UPS. It really varies from person to person about which brand to choose. I personally feel that Fedex has the best shipping time, but they are on the higher end of the price scale.

The important thing is to invest in shopping. Understand that a couple extra dollars upfront is worth so much more than losing you shoes forever.

From the photo above, you want to copy the location of the label so that it is easy to scan when it gets to distribution centers. You want to make sure the label is taped in and won’t get damaged.

A damaged label, although rare, can result in the package being seized. A much more common outcome is the package being returned, but that will cost some money to reship. Instead, take the time to place the label carefully.

Step 4: Sending photos

The final step of the process is to continue sending photos to your customer. There are 3-4 different photos that you want to send you customer:

1.  Photo of sneakers in the box with box open

2. Photo of sneakers in box with business cards/proof that it is actually you

3. Photo of label or tracking number

4. Photo of shipping the shoes (at counter or drop off box)

You want to constantly reassure your customer that you are shipping the sneakers and that you are the best at shipping out there. The most important photo is #3. You absolutely want to send the tacking number to your customer, and you should track your own packages too.

Make sure that you are prioritizing customer satisfaction and shipping safely and securely!
