Without further ado let’s get into the list. For the record, we’ll be going in chronological order of release date.
The Top 5
First up you’re looking at the “Habibi” SB Dunk Low. Frame Skate Shop out of Dubai was fortunate enough to get a collab on the Dunk. Many are excited about the chile red, lucky green, black, and white colorway. The inspiration draws from the Arabic flag. The double swoosh consisting of corduroy and a faux snake skin give it the premium touch. Gum outsole sets it off as well. These released December 2nd for $110 and are currently reselling around $590.
Next is the “Varsity Maize” Dunk High. Whether you’re calling these the Wu-Tang, black and yellow, or Iowa Dunks, they’re the epitome of classic Dunk color blocking and style. These dropped on SNKRS December 9th for $120 and are now being flipped for around the $205 price point.
Here’s a release that we just saw, the AMBUSH collaboration with Nike on the Dunk High. The label based in Tokyo, Japan knocked it out of the park with their take on the Dunk. Said to have it’s inspiration from Eastern bike and car culture, the exaggerated and extendo swoosh and repositioned heel counter are derived from tailpipes and chassis. The sneakers released on December 11th for $180 and now sell for around $445 on average.
Now let’s get to an upcoming drop. Looking forward to December 19th, we’ll see the Sean Cliver Nike SB Dunk Low for $110. Given the history Mr. Cliver has in creating shoes, namely the Strangelove Dunk Low that went crazy this past Valentine’s Day, it’s safe to bet on him again for a banger. We’re predicting resell to hit the $400-$500 ballpark.
The Varsity Purple Dunk High has gotten a bit of a delay from earlier this month to now releasing on December 22nd. Remember these are a women’s shoe so any fella who wants these better size up 1.5 sizes. Look out for these retailing for $120 and reselling for around the $220 price point.
Conclusion
Honorable mentions would be the Wheat Mocha Dunk, as well as the Turdunkens which just released. If we know anything about Nike, it’s that they’ll ride the hot hand and most likely continue the Dunk production. Come next year will they have saturated the market and killed the resale? There’s already rumours surrounding Nike SB Dunks being stocked in stores other than skateshops in 2021. It will be interesting to see what happens with that.
We’re also looking forward to a Bodega and Nike Dunk collab which should be groundbreaking to the silhouette. Stay tuned for that article.
