Nike SB Dunk/History

Nike SB Dunk Various Colorways

The Nike SB Dunk has come a long way since being released back in 2002. However, before the shoe officially released, skateboard fans would make-due with the Air Jordan 1.

After the Air Jordan 1 re-stocked in 1985, they made too many and the sneaker was left on shelves. Collecting dust. Eventually the sneaker had a cut in its price tag to $40 just so people would buy them.

Skateboard fans took notice of this and tried on the Air Jordan 1. They found that the sneaker had excellent traction, lateral support and comfortable cushioning.

All of which are ideal to skateboarders.

A Dunk is Born

The Air Jordan 1 was an instant hit with skateboarders and so. Nike decided to launch the SB division in 2002. The sneaker was very well received and had everything skateboarders needed today.

A lot of recent Nike SB dunks have been doing great on the resale side. This is due to a few reasons such as collectors that collect limited SB Dunks. Another major reason for being profitable is the low price.

The SB Dunk costs mostly around $100 which gives it a great profit margin and affordability.

Let’s look at a few similar examples to estimate how the Nike Dunk Low Varsity Maize Pine Green will do on the resale market.

Nike Dunk Low Syracuse SP (2020)

Nike Dunk Low Syracuse 2020

Retail Price: $100

The Nike Syracuse colorway was one of the first collegiate colorways. It enabled sports fans in 12 different colleges to show their support through their sneakers.

Nike released the Nike SB Dunk Syracuse for the 35th anniversary of the Nike Dunk. This is to celebrate the success Nike SB has achieved through out the decades.

The sneaker features a white leather upper with bright orange overlays. It has a white mid-sole, orange out-sole and the typical Nike “Swoosh” in orange to complete the design.

The resale of this sneaker is very profitable as was expected. The profit margins are also high due to the low retail price of $100.

According to StockX, the trade range is between $337-$363 with an average price of $261. That’s an average profit of $161 which is very good money if you copped enough pairs.

Had you sold these at their peak resale values, profit could have been as high as $699. The Nike SB Dunk Kentucky also did quite well. You can get a more detailed look here.

This gives us a good indication that the Nike Dunk Low Varsity Maize Pine Green could do well. However, a more similar colorway could give us a more accurate estimate.

Resale Estimate

These sneakers seem to be limited in value and we all know that means good resale. Apart from that the colorway is also pretty solid and it being an SB Dunk just makes it better.

Collectors will really want to get their hands on these sneakers. Furthermore, the low retail price just means it will be easier to cop with a higher profit margin.

Resale value is already pretty high for these, going for as high as $700 on GOAT. That’s a profit of $600 before taxes and service fees.

Now this will likely fall so expected resale value will be around $280. That’s an average profit of $180 before taxes and service fees. Cop enough pairs and that’s a good week’s work!

How to Cop

As I mentioned before, these will be limited so bring you’re A game. That means Bots, multiple accounts and enter as many raffles as you can.

You can find them for retail prices from select retailers and the Nike Official website. You can also grab them from re-seller websites like StockX and GOAT.

I suggest going for the larger sizes as they are often most profitable for such releases.
