What is Yeezy?

A good introduction to this article is understanding what Yeezys are in the first place. Yeezy is essentially an ongoing fashion collaboration between Adidas and American rapper Kanye West.

Yeezy began as a collaboration between Kanye and Nike. Kanye publicly pointed out that Nike did not allow him to release his shoes as often or abundantly as he felt his creativity and influence demanded.

Conversely, Nike did not want an artist as the face of their athlete-oriented brand. After a year of on-stage name-calling, behind-the-scenes banter, and radio rants, Kanye left Nike for Adidas in the fall of 2013.

In the years to follow, the Yeezy brand grew with healthy backing from Adidas and the immutable creativity of Kanye.

Industry veterans like Steven Smith, Mark Miner, and Christian Tresser joined the booming brand, honing Mr. West’s off-the-wall ideas into market-ready releases.

Today Yeezy is one of the largest sneaker brands and one of the most resold sneakers in the game. They can be incredibly profitable, meaning there are tons of replicas and counterfeit copies.

What is the Yeezy 380?

The YEEZY BOOST 380 features an upper composed of multi-toned re-engineered Primeknit. The translucent monofilament window is woven into the upper, and the sock-like construction provides a snug fit and allows you to wear with or without laces. YEEZY BOOST 380 elevates the cushioning experience with a reengineered midsole that provides optimal comfort where consumers need it most. The herringbone rubber outsole offers unique design cues and improved traction.

You will notice that for this article, we added the Price Premium above the image. We did this because this is one of the most important factors to consider in whether or not a sneaker is reselling well.

The price premium represents the percentage over retail that the sneaker is selling for.

Debuted in 2017, the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Zebra is known as one of the most renowned colorways in the Yeezy line. It features a white and black marbled Primeknit upper with a white side stripe and red “SPLY-350” text. At the base, a cushioned Boost sole provides comfort and support.

The 39% price premium is solid for a sneaker that has been around for 5 years and shows that people still see the value in this sneaker. The Yeezy 350 Zebra definitely makes a good case for the 350s being best for reselling!

Adidas Yeezy Boost 380 ‘Mist’

  • Retail Price: $230
  • Average Resell: $198
  • Colorway: Mist
  • Release Date: Wednesday, March 25, 2020
  • Style Code: FX9764
  • PRICE PREMIUM: N/A (not available if sneaker sells for under retail)

Yeezy added a new colorway to their Boost 380 product line with the Adidas Yeezy Boost 380 Mist.

This model was originally known to be the Yeezy Boost 350 V3, but it was given its own silhouette name upon release.

The mist colorway is released in both reflective and non-reflective variations.

This 380 Mist features a Mist Primeknit pattern on its upper and lacks the traditional lateral side stripe. An upgraded translucent Boost midsole and engineered gum outsole grip complete the design.

Unfortunately, the price premium isn’t available here because the sneaker resells for less than the original retail price, meaning this sneaker is not great for reselling.

Unless you are able to purchase it heavily discounted, we would stay away from this sneaker if you are trying to resell it.

Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 ‘Core Black Red’

  • Retail Price: $220
  • Average Resell: $310
  • Colorway: Core Black, Red
  • Release Date: Wednesday, November 23, 2016
  • Style Code: BY9612
  • PRICE PREMIUM: 39%

If anyone is discussing what’s hotter than the earth’s core, then the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Core Red must be a part of the discussion. Bringing hot lava vibes, these come with a core black upper and sole.

There’s also a core black “SPLY-350” branding across a scorching hot core red stripe on both sides.

Here we have yet another sneaker that was released 6 years ago and is still reselling for 39% over the retail price. This shows you that the demand for the 350s has been constant and consistent and the sneaker continues to be profitable.

It is sneakers like these that make great investments. Since the demand has stayed relatively the same over the last 6 years, holding on to this sneaker is profitable. The supply goes down every time someone wears a pair, so a deadstock investment is a smart move.

Adidas Yeezy Boost 380 ‘Onyx’

  • Retail Price: $230
  • Average Resell: $228
  • Colorway: Onyx
  • Release Date: Saturday, November 28, 2020
  • Style Code: FZ1270
  • PRICE PREMIUM: N/A (not available if sneaker sells for under retail)

Yeezy expanded its 380 lines with a new colorway in the Yeezy Boost 380 Onyx. Unlike 2020’s earlier releases like the Yeezy 380 Mist and Pepper, the Onyx colorway is the first 380 to feature primarily black and dark brown uppers.

The Yeezy 380 Onyx features a black and dark brown camo-print Primeknit upper with a flat black side spot. Similar to past colorways, a dark translucent BOOST sole delivers the ultimate cushioning experience that is primed to keep your feet fresh with style.

Unfortunately for the Yeezy 380 lovers out there, we have another 380 Yeezy resale negative price premium as this sneaker sells for under retail currently.

We want to stress that just because a sneaker does not resell well does not mean a sneaker isn’t “cool”. In fact, in my personal opinion, some of the coolest sneakers out there are still available for retail.

If you are looking for sneakers to wear, this isn’t the article for you. If you are looking at where you can make the most profit, keep reading!

Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 ‘Cream/Triple White’

  • PRICE PREMIUM: 57%

The luminous-colored Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 has a cream-white upper, core white midsole, and a camouflaged “SPLY-350” branding across the stripe on the sides.

Here we have the most profitable sneaker in the article, with a whopping 57% price premium. This is an incredible statistic, and it’s especially relevant when you realize that the sneaker has been out for 5 years.

This sneaker will always be a staple in the sneaker game and will probably always be resold for some sort of profit. It’s impossible to go wrong with a sneaker as clean and as versatile as this.

A big reason why it’s maintained so much value for all these years is that people genuinely love the sneaker and love to wear them. The all-white is very hard not to match.

If you were or are able to cop this pair for anywhere close to retail, definitely pull the trigger immediately!

Yeezy has introduced a new silhouette to their product line with the Adidas Yeezy Boost 380 Alien. This model was originally known to be the Yeezy Boost 350 V3, but it was given its own name upon release.

This 380 Alien features a never before seen Primeknit pattern on its upper and lacks the traditional lateral side strip. An upgraded thicker Boost midsole and engineered outsole grip complete the design.

The good news here is that we have a 380 model with a 33% price premium! The Alien colorway is definitely one that is sought after and remains hyped today.

While many of the 380 models do not resell for profitable margins, this one certainly does.

Yeezy 380 or Yeezy 350?

It’s pretty clear after seeing these examples that the Yeezy 350 is the superior reselling pair. This is due to a couple of different things.

First, the 350 was released at the peak of the Yeezy brand hype and has retained that today. While it does say something about the sneakers themselves, the size of Yeezy was at its biggest when the 350s were released.

Second, it just seems like people like the 350 more than the 380. Whether it is a look thing or a comfort thing, we’re not sure. But it definitely seems like the 350 is the preferred model when it comes to wearing your sneakers.

This doesn’t mean that the 380 is a waste of time for resellers. We just took a look at the 380 Alien and saw some fantastic profit margins. There are other pairs out there that can yield similar returns.

While the Yeezy 380 is not better than the 350 in terms of reselling, the 380 is still a profitable sneaker and one that resellers can profit off of.
